Bicycle Express is one of those few shops that you dont really start to appriciate the value of until your particular bike project decides to leave the familiar grounds of organized and preordered parts in neatly outlined catalogs and enters the murky grounds of vice grips, cutting torches, and weekends fueled by coffee and fast food. No matter what your project is; when you need it done, you need it put together, and you need it on a budget Bicycle Express are the wizards who can look at your project and bridge the gap between a pile of tubes and bolts and the end goal of you having a viable means of transportation to get you to go on with your life and being a productive citizen. They do this because they bring something to the table that not alot of Bicycle Shops can. They bring experience, knowledge, and the capability to follow through on a goal. Any joker can set up a bicycle store with a pre-fabbed building, trendy interior and pricy italian imported bicycles on the showroom floor with a staff who just know how to flip through catalogs and swipe a credit card. But these stores also have their hard limits. If a particular customers doesnt fit a predetermined matrix, then the employees quickly get left behind and the well meaning customer is walking for another day. As you can imagine, any random combination of customers could quickly get shut out by not presenting an easy to assemble fixable solution for most of the boutiques. As far as they are concerned, you are driving a rather hopeless basket case and youll be best served by just junking the whole thing and buying a new bike. At Bicycle Express, no such conundrum exists. You can take any combination of vehicle and problem to them and they will find the solution, because to them its just another Saturday afternoon. These people really deserve a medel and serve as a basic role model for humanity.

The shop is a bit small and hard to browse around because of all the merchandise everywhere, but the staff are generally really nice and helpful. I went in last week to get bicycle helmets for me and my husband--they didnt have any above a size small in the store at the time, but one of the men who works there (really tall guy) offered to zip over to their storage locker a couple streets away and pick up a few more for us to try on and check out. When he came back and two of them fit, he gave us a few bucks off the helmets as a thank you for waiting, which was a kind gesture. It can be a little hectic inside with people in and out looking for parts and sometimes working on bikes inside or outside the shop, but the customer service makes up for the bit of chaos.

Bought a big-box bike and brought it in for a tune up to make sure everything was solid. Tune up was very reasonable. I bought a better seat as well, and they installed it for free. The mechanic was friendly, helpful, and had my bike back to me the next day. As others have said, the only downside to this place is it is small so selection is limited. Im definitely going back. Update: took a friends bike in for service. Same great service, they checked it over carefully despite being swamped with holiday business.

Very friendly neighborhood bike shop -- the types that remember your face and remember your bike by the 3rd time you visit, More than enough have they helped me fix my bike for major repairs at a minimal charge and even better when they make small repairs almost for free! Prices are very fair for a small town shop too, which sometimes has been an issue with me in the past with local shops, but this one in particular shines! All your bike problems, come here!

I had a flat on Saturday and had to walk my bike home. On the way back, I stopped at Bicycle Express. The cashier was extremely courteous when I told her I had a flat and told me to wait until she had helped her current customer. My bike rear tube was professionally replaced at a very reasonable cost, with a smile, and at a very reasonable cost. This shop is the best in the area! They are honest, empathetic, and very professional. Highly recommended!

This shop is AWESOME! The staff is always super friendly, helpful, and willing to share their expert knowledge. The shop does look a bit cluttered, but thats really just a bunch of awesomeness crammed into a small place! Ive special ordered parts a few times and they always call me early to let me know theyve been delivered. Their pricing on parts and labor is super competitive, and they have a huge selection of wheels, tires, and accessories.

Bicycle Express Coming from nyc, Im accustomed to apathy with incompetence or minimal competence coupled with attitude and apathy. Here At Bicycle Express I was surprised to find care, mastery, and friendly, attentive customer service. Their prices were actually favorably competitive with popular internet retailers, and this, coupled with the service make this place a very rare and valuable bargain.

Ive taken my bike here twice past 6 p.m. and theyve repaired it while I waited, which is important because I use the bike to commute. This is a first rate, personal service neighborhood bicycle repair shop; theyll work with you and listen to what you need. Im not one, but I imagine this place is a godsend for SJSU students who ride. Highly recommended for its service, I have no experience with its sales.

Nice small shop focusing on repairs more than selling bikes. They werent able to help me, but went out of their way to point me at a few other shops that might have the parts for my older bike. Really nice guys you will make you feel comfortable. Another customer came in while I was there and didnt know how to use a bike pump. They helped him *without* making him feel stupid.

First time coming in today, will be a customer for life!!!!! Helped me out with a question and walked out with an $8 solution, will be coming back for two bikes to purchase!!! Don't know their names but all three got involved in a way with my transaction, the awesome senior lady, the cool dude mechanic and the mild mannered tall guy!!! Glad I've checked today.

The staff is not very friendly, only friendly to frequent customers and the slim older gentleman is very rude and sarcastic, the only upside to this place is they are always in a rush to GET YOU OUT THE DOOR. The shop isnt very nice or clean itself either. Only recommend going in for change of tires or tubes, very pricy for anything else.

Excellent service with very fair prices. I went in to put a chain on my bike and they Tony charged 5 dollars. When I left the store my gear fell off, I returned to the store and they fixed that for free, fixed a bad break and adjusted my gear for free also. They where so friendly and I would recommend this place above all others.

Love this bike shop! Its close to downtown, they let you use their tools/pump no problem, and their staff members are all super friendly and awesome. Theyve helped me with at least 3 different bikes, and I am fully satisfied each time I get work done. Godsend for SJSU students and staff and whoever else works downtown.
