Ace is an excellent place to go. I was there about a month ago and got my first tattoo done. I was in the area as a friend of mine was getting a piercing down the street. I had seen ace before and decided to walk in and see if they could fit me in. Gary, who is also the owner, was there and told me that he could and that I should come back, I just wanted something very small on my hip. I came back and showed him what I wanted. He was very relaxed and friendly and I was incredibly comfortable. He drew my tattoo out on me and had me look at it and make sure. Not only did he listen to what I had to say, he made suggestions about what would make it look best. My tattoo was quick and he did an amazing job, exactly what I wanted. I was surprised by another review about his motorcycle, personally I dont understand the correlation between tattooing skills and what someone drives, especially considering that fact that loud motorcycles are pretty common on for the area. I also really like that they had books with the artists work, as well as art done by the artists hanging all over the walls. The other people working there were also very friendly. One of them even had a tattoo similar to the one I was getting. Also Gary explained that he guarantees all of his work. Also there is an $80 minimum. The fact that Ace has been in business for over 20 years should say enough on its own. I will definitely be back.

I went around looking for someone who could do some japanese work on my arm. I found Ace and met Mark and we agreed to start with a coi and from then on i just went in and let him finish the entire sleeve. He did an amazing job. All of the people at Ace are friendly and engaging. Ill never go anywhere else. Im going back to him as soon as im done here in the middle east. Dont go anywhere else in SD. You wont be disappointed

Stopped in late to the shop on my last night in OB not expecting to be taken. It was my first tattoo ever and had a very specific idea for it. Matt worked with me and gave me an awesome tattoo and exactly what I wanted. The whole experience from start to finish was great. He is very talented and professional. Love my tattoo!!

Craig did an absolutely amazing job!!!! He did an hour glass and rose for me and its instantly become my favorite tattoo. Definitely going back to this guy!!!!

Staff not helpful at all, and informed me that the prices are so high because "your in San Diego now, dont know where you came from." Way to go guy.
