Im not really a donut person, really, I enjoy cakes, custards, ice cream, puff pastries. I walked by this place one day and said well go back another time. A few days later, we finally made it back. Nothing fancy about the interior, just your normal donut case, but things a bit a different here. The donuts are small, just a couple of bits and youre done. So is that a good thing or a bad thing. I think its a good thing, theres lots of different flavors get a couple of them wont make you feel guilty. They are moist and more cake like than your average donut. They also have the west coast version of the cronut, but they dont fill theres, theyre either dusted in cinnamon sugar or glazed. Im not sure what a cronut tastes like, but these were pretty darn good.

I have tried donuts from the east coast to the west coast and there are some clear winners and Donut Savant is one of them. Some donuts are known for their size, their fluffiness, creativity and general ambiance. I love Donut Savant for its smaller size and attention to details when it comes to texture of the donut, flavor and sweetness. They cover it all. If you dont want to have a cardiac arrest eating a ginormous donut, this is a good place to sample different ones without feeling completely guilty. I could sleep in them :)

I am kind of obsessed with this place. The donuts are the best take on classic donuts I have had, not just in Oakland, but anywhere. ...and the people there are always very cool. I recommend the apple fritters, particularly when they are fresh and hot, but the raised chocolate and maple are always there and always good. ... and if I find a batch of lemon cronts again, I might just buy the whole tray.

Just blissfully moaned my way through a Boston Cream donut, mid-afternoon on a Tuesday. What a delicious way to spend my calories and treat myself! The chocolate was fantastic and actually tasted like chocolate instead of just being brown or plastic-y. The cream was perfect and not too sweet. And to top it off, service was friendly, engaging, and professional.

Their donuts and cronuts are to die for. I was at a week long conference a few blocks away and went there everyday and purchased a box. I am obsessed. My favorites were the boston cream filled donut and maple glazed cronut. Drool. The chocolate ganache on the former really makes it. If you go, do yourself a favor and buy at least two. TREAT YO SELF

Although pricier than what one would normally pay for donuts, the goods here are reflective of the price. I would argue that the donuts are the best in the area. They are consistent in the quality, and routinely come out with fun new creations. Never bring these to work, or youll be expected to do so ALL the time.

Best donuts in Northern California, maybe all of CA, maybe the whole Pacific Rim. Donuts are small and jam-packed with flavor. The salted maple CRONT is flat-out addictive...a foodies frequent daydream. Beware: closed on Sunday! Their website lets you order ahead but you can only pick times on the hour.

Best donuts in the bay area. Some of the best donuts Ive ever had. If this place was in San Francisco it would have queues round the block, and the prices would be twice as high. Great donuts, great value, all round great. Dont know why this place doesnt get more recognition than it does.

This donut shop always provides good CS and smiling friendly staff. Nothing that you cant at other places, but theyre specializing in mini to bite size version. Located within steps of 19th st Bart station. Go early for best selections afternoon is fairly empty.

I happen to be lucky enough to visit Oakland on a weekly basis and I rarely miss a chance to stop by my new favorite indulgence. If you like cake donuts or dark chocolate - this place is amazing. I highly recommend you give it a try.

Found my new doughnut spot. For the most part, the doughnuts are the size of doughnut holes and cost. 50. This is a plus because they have good flavors and you can try multiple doughnuts with out felling like a slob.
