I was in the store to return a shawl given to me last weekend by a friend for my birthday. The original tag was still on the item; I did not have a receipt (obviously). I literally brought it to the store in the gift bag it was contained in. I initially met with the cashier; she was fine. Just didnt know how to do a store credit...and called the manager over. The manager didnt know how to process the credit on the cash register until (DOH!) she realized the other cashier hadnt closed out the start of our transaction. She then decided to examine the shawl, look at the tag, and then proceeded to scrutinize the shawl like...?!??! Like it had fleas. I said to her "Are you checking for fleas?"...and then it went downhill from there. For whatever reason manager decided she was the person who required MY cooperation more than vice versa...and believe me, we got into it. She repeatedly said she doesnt give refunds without a receipt. Who wanted a refund?!? TMs national policy is to offer store credit or an exchange on any merchandise returned within 30 days without a receipt! I said she could call my friend who bought it; she said SHE MIGHT DO IT! I asked her name...she WOULDNT GIVE IT TO ME! Then asked me my name (which I gave to her). I tell ya, DO NOT GO TO THIS TUESDAY MORNING! Oh..she also asked me if I ever "shopped" at TM before. What i wanted to say besides "Of course I do!" was "Yes, and as a matter of fact I probably spend in six months what you earn in a year just sayin!" OMG I dont know where TM scraped her up from...but shes a piece of work! Grant it, she was probably in her 70s age-wise so I have to cut her slack in case shes got vascular dementia going on. She acted like SHE was the irate customer...and all I did was ask her if she was examining the shawl I was returning for fleas....GO FIGURE! And to you Grandma Manager if you read this, be grateful I didnt use your name because I still DO respect my elders...and in your case, way elders!
