Great book store with lots of services. Cafe is a great clean, safe place. The gift wrapping service is top-notch, they wrap AND ship for a great price! Ive sent out tons of gift books from here. Lots of exciting events - I got to see Mark Z. Danielewski of House of Leaves fame give a talk. I love the mix of new/used on the shelves, sometimes you can snag a mint used copy of a book at a good price. Unbelievable bargain book sales. Not crappy obsolete paperbacks - some serious contemporary fiction and interesting titles. Not to mention its the place to go for official Husky gear and textbooks. Bathroom is a little smelly and scary, and has been for the last 3 years Ive been on campus.

This store has an incredible selection of Leuchtturm 1917 notebooks and writing utensils. I was able to get everything I needed for my bullet journal here (tombow dual brush pens, Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, dotted A5 Leuchtturm). The selection was the best part of the place because I was able to test out different Tombow pens and choose the ones that I liked the most. I never would have been able to do that online. They also have competitive prices which made me much happier to buy in-store than online. This is the best place that Ive found so far for bullet journal supplies in Seattle. The person in charge of buying stock for the paper section really knows what they are doing.

One employee literally stopped what he was doing, and scolded me, when I told him I didnt want his pamphlet. Aside from the fact that this bit of infrastructure is basically hell, this organization ultimately facilitates inflation in the local cost of education, due to the monopolies it holds on literature required for our enrollment at UW. Also their shrinkwrap technique on their products should be a crime. If anybody reading this finds their textbook for less cost here, than on Amazon, you can contact me, and I will buy you that textbook. This offer will stand forever. I am betting that this will never, ever happen, so long as this organization exists.

Disclaimer: Im working with the bookstore currently, as their Husky photographer. I took on the contract because the University Bookstore is amazing! Awesome range of books covering all topics, the art and stationery department is swoon-worthy, and the gift range is fun. The Husky range is pretty good, but as I didnt go to college at UW, it doesnt appeal to me. They have great events, from readings, to signings to wizard rock shows. The line for the Oatmeal was hours long, but the team let it go way after close. Its the venue of choice for the Whomping Willows shows. Only four stars though because the cafe isnt quite as good.

One of the best bookstores in Seattle. University Book Store is a local institution...in this location for over 50 years. You will find selections and recommendations here you wont find anywhere else. The art book section is my favourite. The sale books hold many great finds. In addition, there is a nice gift department, a large art department in the basement, a small cafe and a textbook selection for the UW and local private schools. NOTE: parking is free with validation. Get a sticker from the cashiers with your purchase.

I am a bookstore lover. They are like museums to me :) I can spend hours in them. UW, WWU,and UBC/Vancouver are my favorites. They each offer sections on their respective history, famous people who attended and/or contributed to that institution, and have cool things to buy outside of text books for the students. Im a mom whose daughters attend those colleges so I have seen a lot of bookstores visiting campuses, etc. This one and the other 2 are great!

I look for books on theology and Christian religion, so Im pretty limited when it comes to shopping at used bookstores. I couldnt believe that I had not come across this place sooner! It had the largest selection of theology and Christian religion that I have seen in any used bookstore. But if thats not your taste, there is definitely plenty of other great books to suit your literary appetite!

This bookstore has a coffee shop, gifts, UW themed gear and clothing, etc. Its a big, multi-story building and has a parking lot. If you make purchases at the bookstore you can get validated for parking (check with attendant for precise details.) The parking is a major plus. Its a nice place to hang out if you are in the U District and have some time to kill.

The University Book Store is more than a book store. Its one of the first undergraduate experiences a Husky will face when they go to UW. The location has so many different sections from books to UW apparel to school supplies and even a makeup station. I like the variety but I also love all the sales on books and the events the book store has.

Not only is the book selection for non-students well-curated and ample, but the basement supplies section is the stuff of dreams. Fountain pens and inks, office supplies, canvases, art supplies -- theres almost anything a stationery addict could want! Street parkings a little challenging -- its worth trying to park in the designated lot.

The U Bookstore is a great place to go for gifts for people. The staff is very knowledgeable about everything. The tech center upstairs is great too; you can try out various devices. The people who work there is very in the know about the different software and OS. There is even a free gift wrap option if you want!

Absolutely horribly run book signing. Authors in attendance were incredible but the signing was handled very poorly. It shouldnt have taken down two hours for an autograph and there should have been a line for each author. I came for one author but had to stand in line for the other

They have everything, or theyll order it for you. At Christmas, theyll gift wrap and ship your books for free -- and if theyre going out of state, no sales tax! Easily the most human -- and least monopolistic -- of the prominent, Seattle-based book retailers.

Local bookstore on the Ave. Textbook discounts are not the greatest, but the service there is fantastic. Many arts and crafts are sold downstairs while Husky apparel is sold at ground level. Is especially crowded near the beginning of the quarter.

This bookstore has a great selection of books. It also hosts programs for kids, which is always nice from a parents perspective. They have a sale table with great discounts (I bought a book that was 75% off), and the cafe inside is fantastic.

They bought several of my used books that other places had no interest in (mostly academic, education theory ones; makes sense) and gave me a good in-store credit rate for them. Staff in the fiction area is really friendly and helpful.

This is an awesome book store for college students, they have tons of text books, computers, UW merchandise and even a selection of books to read while relaxing. In addition they have a small coffee shop and parking validation!

I love spending time in this store. There is always more to see. A good selection of art supplies, books, and gifts. The baristas are always a bit slow for some reason, but the coffee is good in their attached coffee shop.

Awesome independent college bookstore. Its actually owned as a co-op by the students. They have great selection of academic and non academic books, and can order things for you if they dont have them in stock already.
