We loved going to Mountlake Terrace Eye Care when Dr Betts was alive. He was the most caring Doctor Ive ever had. After his death and the busines was sold, the service of the front office went down hill, terribly. The receptionist is extremely rude; comes across as very condescending. Appears to get along better with my husband than myself, although I have had little contact with her. Once my husband notified her he was calling regarding my appointment, she got very cold. Before then she was chatting up my husband. Also, doesnt appear to be too knowledgable. Anytime I asked coverage questions, she made it out to be a big imposition to call up that information on the computer. Whereas prior receptionists were more than willing to help answer my questions. There is a very nice and knowledgable fitter currently, and my children liked the replacement doctor they had. This complaint/poor review is NOT based on their actual care. It is based on the level of service we receive at the front office only. It is because of the extremely poor care we receive in the front office that we have chosen to leave. We had been going to see Dr Betts for over 20 years. I feel for his wife who sold his business to a company that doesnt appear to believe in his standards of service. He will be sorely missed.

Absolutely the worst experience with a health provider I have ever had. I made an appointment with this provider several weeks in advance for a refraction only. I was told the cost would be $49. When I walked in the receptionist told me I did not have an appointment because I had "cancelled it via SMS". No such thing had occurred. After some wrangling they agreed to "squeeze me in." After waiting for a bit, I was taken back where they started to perform a full exam. I explained that that was not what I had scheduled. At that point they told me that they would not perform a refraction only, and would only do a full exam. This was completely contrary to what they had told me when I scheduled the time with them. They did not take any responsibility for the erroneously canceled appointment, took no responsibility for the erroneous information they had provided me, and offered no solutions in terms of the time constraints I had based on the poor information I received from them. To say that it was poor service was an understatement. It was completely disorganized at best, dishonest at worst. I walked out and neither I nor my family will be returning again.

I have been a patient for YEARS. I love Dr Betts. He was able to nail my prescription correctly the first time I went in and I had spent years dealing with incorrect prescriptions from various doctors. The difference between this place and a place like Pearl is night and day. Dr Betts spends a lot of time making sure the prescription is correct. Yes, they had some staffing issues over the course of about two years, but what seemed like a lot of turn-around was really the doctor not "settling" for staff who wasnt up to par. The current front office women are mature, professional and seem to really care plus theyre very thorough about their work. I would highly recommend them. --regarding the previous complaint, I do believe the current staff has fixed that problem. Its hard to find good employees, many times you just have to hire people and see if theyre going to work out.

I really love this clinic! Dr Patel is an absolute doll. She takes care of both mine and my husbands eye issues. She is very thorough and knowledgable. She will make sure all of your concerns are addressed even sends me home with handwritten plus printed info on my care plan with tips & recommended products to buy at the drug store. Her office makes sure to call with test results and remind you when it is time for checkups and follow ups. I really cant emphasize how great her and her nurse are. The office staff too are great. Always a clean welcoming environment and should you need any info sent to your medical doctors, theyll always make sure it is there in time full of detail and diagnostic results. With so many bad providers out there just looking to capitalize on your insurance plan, it is refreshing to have a knowledgable caring eye doctor who is looking out for the patients eye health.

A case of double vision. Dr Betts is, as far as I can tell, an excellent optometrist: friendly, very knowledgeable, and able and willing to answer questions and offer explanations. Unfortunately, despite Chris review, he seems to have difficulty finding/keeping good, competent staff. I have ordered both glasses and contacts from his office and have always had to wait an unusually long time for these to arrive (and have never been notified of their arrival by the office despite repeated assurances to the contrary). On my last visit just a week or so ago (to choose new frames), the staff could not even locate my personal file, even though I had been in for an exam only 2 days before. (It was eventually found under papers on the front desk.) As much as I like Dr Betts and want to support a local business, I think Ill be taking my eye care business elsewhere in the future.

I have been a longtime customer and had to renew my prescription. There are new owners now and the place seems to be unorganized. Ive been there three different times recently. The first time was a 30 minute wait and they billed me wrong which caused me to go back in and pay again. The second time was over a hour wait only to see the Dr for less then 10 minutes. This last time I waited another 30 minutes and changed rooms three different times before I was seen. And again I get a call the next day saying they billed me wrong and again need to return. This has been a very long a drawn out process and will be looking for a new place. Update: 3 months after my last appt. I get an invoice in the mail saying I still owe them. Once again this office is unable to do their job correctly.

I havent had any real issues with Dr. Betts. He seems to do a good job of providing thorough services. I do have a problem with the office staff. I have been there probably 10-12 times and each time have had an issue with them not doing something, or doing something wrong. For ex: Not calling in a trial lens, calling in a prescription to the wrong pharmacy, saying I had a refill when I really didnt, quoting the wrong price on contacts, billing my insurance after the end of the year, not calling me to tell me my contacts were in. The list goes on. A good practice is where the dr. and the staff work well together. This does not happen here.

I am extremely impressed with the staff and doctors at this practice. I came in with terrible headaches, which all of my previous doctors had dismissed. Mountlake Terrace Eye Care referred me to a neurophthamologist, we followed through with my care, and now I dont have headaches anymore. Dr. Stanley and Dr. Archer are very thorough and pleasant. I had a great experience with the technicians that did the pre-testing, and the front desk staff were informative and professional.
