Third update: I had the tattoo fixed yesterday by an amazing artist in Idaho! She said that my skin was badly damaged by overworking of the area and it might take two sessions to fully correct. The blowout on the dots was due to too much pressure on the needle. She asked if the gal who did it was a new artist with little experience - Im not sure. I just know that I will not go back. Second Update: The business claims, thru the BBB that they always take a copy of the DL and sign proper paperwork. However, they will be unable to produce anything from me as the gal did not even look at my DL. Again, please stay away and find a more reputable shop. UPDATE: its healed and looks terrible. Some areas are scarred without color - NONE of my other 15 tattoos scarred. To repair it is going to cost me $135 for a $60 tattoo. STAY AWAY from this shop. On January 18, 2016 I went to Blue Lotus Tattoo in Salem, VA to receive a piece from Christina. A compass in brown colors placed askew on my wrist. Shortly after arrival, Christina brought myself, my boyfriend, and his mom, back into the room to begin the tattoo. When I was trying to show her how to turn the tattoo so that it was slightly off center she was confused by what I was asking. I even took her fingers and tried to turn her hand, which didnt work so well either as she wouldnt move! Finally after getting the correct placement we sat down to begin the tattoo. For those who have had tattoos previously (Ive had 15 others) you may notice that a step was missing. Not once was my ID even checked and I never signed any kind of waiver of liability that is standard in the tattoo and piercing industry. She barely spoke as she worked and seemed distant (personality thing I guess). The end result was not of the quality that I expected nor that I would ever recommend to others. A small area of the tattoo is blown out, the lines are not all straight, and the tick marks are uneven. The color in the tattoo took very unevenly and the center of the tattoo badly scabbed – I can only assume that the needle pressure was inconsistent and areas of the tattoo overworked. I have never had a single tattoo scab on me or need retouching immediately after healing – this one does. As previously stated, not only was I not required to sign any disclosures but I was also not given any aftercare instructions. Her words were simply that I obviously knew how to take care of it because of my other tattoos. The tattoo itself was not a mistake, however the choice of shop was a HUGE mistake. From now on I am sticking with Shannon at Skin Deep Designs – a local shop that does amazing work including fixing this one.

Christinia Davie was awesome! Long story short, my wife and I wanted to get tattoos VERY last minute before I deployed. We walked in and were very politely told that they were booked for the next two weeks. This increased our confidence because they must be good if they stay booked two weeks out. They then offered to call us if anyone canceled. They called us later that evening to confirm that nothing was going to open up that night. The next day they called us and said they had a slot open up for my tattoo if I was still interested. Christinias design of what I wanted, incorporated everything that I wanted put together with an elegant and crisp style that was perfect!! There was no judgemental conversation about my or other peoples tattoos at all. The outstanding customer service given here should be the model for any business that desires to be successful! Christinias background and education as an Art major has thoroughly prepared her to be one awesome tattoo artist! The shop is neat and clean! As a Nurse I have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and let me tell you they exceeded my expectations! I will be back and I will continue to tell my friends! Thanks again!!!!

Ive been VERY pleased with the work Christinia does there. BUT, Customer service wise, on the piercing side, Ive been extremely unsatisfied. I scheduled a time and date to come in to have a piercing done - I showed up, waited 30 minutes, Rob never showed up, and wasnt very apologetic when I messaged him questioning it, instead he was downtown drinking, and didnt offer to reschedule, or offer a deal to come back. Also, I ordered a specific bar for a piercing there, he ordered it, told me it would be in 3 days later, I called 3 days later, it wasnt in. - Which was understandable, because it had snowed. I then waited another week to the next date he said it would arrive, it wasnt there "yet" because the truck got there later that day. I then was told to stop by that evening, I drove over, only to be told it wasnt there. I gave him my number, asked him to please give me a call when it arrived, or to call if it wasnt coming, he assured me he would let me know something when the next truck arrived. It has now been 3 weeks, I have yet to hear anything, good or bad. I will not be going back for piercings.

Absolutely the best shop hands down! The tattoo artist is amazing with her work; super creative, and very dedicated to her shop. She makes sure she gets the best interpretation of the art you are wanting. She is extremely easy to talk to, and very thorough. The piercer is very professional, and makes me feel totally comfortable and always gives his honest professional opinion! Its a shop I can walk into and feel completely welcomed. i recommend this place to everyone from piercing/dermal to tattoos! they are the best :)

Worst shop experience Ive ever had stay away from Christina she claims to be a good artist but she sucks I called and she said she had an appointment the very next day at 12 showed up that she said she was booked until February finally got a piece done by her and it is horrible by far the worst tattoo I have ever gotten in my life STAY AWAY STAY AWAY she doesnt even deserve one star

i love love love blue lotus. I’ve gotten two piercings there (belly button and conch) and both times i went i had a very positive experience. I would recumbent this tattoo shop to everybody. The piercer is great and the tattoo artist tattooed my mother and did a very good job!
