First, the assistant Michael that dealt with me was NOT very friendly or accommodating. He was actually quite rude. He performed the hand held eye pressure test on me, and I told him beforehand that I had trouble keeping my eyes open for this test because it made me nervous. So during the test, naturally, Im blinking rapidly and trying to keep my eyes open... and he is saying "its not a big deal" in what I considered an exasperated tone of voice. When I got high readings in both eyes, he sounded irritated and said, "Im going to give you a minute to calm down..." and I told him, "Im not "un-calm.... I just have trouble with this particular test." I am a very friendly person, so I was taken aback by his whole demeanor, not friendly, patient, or encouraging at all. Very unprofessional. Second, I do not have any type of insurance so I told them when I scheduled my appointment that I wanted to keep the exam to the minimum cost if possible (I was told $75 starting). The desk person (Bruce) told me the doctor was very good about keeping fees low if I were to tell her in advance that I dont have insurance. So I told her just that when I got in the room and that I wanted to keep the cost as low as possible. When it comes time to check out, I was very surprised to hear my bill was $125 instead of the $75 I had previously heard. I told Bruce that I mentioned to the doctor I did not have insurance and expected to be told if there would be any additional fees during the exam. My problem is the fact that i was not told during the exam that she would perform an "extra" test that would cost $50. I feel like it is a professional and courteous thing to INFORM someone when they will be paying an extra fee so that they can ACCEPT or DECLINE the addition since I am paying out of pocket. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the whole visit, and I will not be returning.

Placed an order on 12/17/16 for a pair of glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses. Left 2 phone numbers and was told I would be called when they were ready, within 7-10 days. Allowing for the holidays, I called on the 31st and was told that my frames were on back order. I went in and picked a new set of frames, and again was told that I would be called when they were ready. After receiving no calls, I again called and was told to come pick up my glasses. Upon arrival i was informed that my sunglasses were not ready. Assuring me that my phone numbers were on file, I was told I would be called. January 17, after receiving no notification I once again make the call. This time I am told that "they" will get a status and call me right back. Never happened. Still no sunglasses, but they sure have my money.

Ive used these guys for quite a while for glasses, exams and contacts for my family. Never had any sort of issues always great service at a fairly decent price. Glasses would always be in in a couple of days. This bad review has nothing to do with the in store staff, they are wonderful. They are now part of myeyedr. Ordered a pair of glasses a week ago, due to the changes glasses now take 7 to 10 business days. So two to three weeks. Im sorry this is unacceptable, especially with school aged children. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Word of advice to National Optometry, drop your new lab, they suck and are way too slow or you are going to lose a lot more customers.

I work nearby this particular location and had browsed their selections on a couple of occasions, and was excited about ordering my glasses on yesterday. When I arrived there was only one other customer in the store and three employees. I went to the counter and was so disappointed at their reception. I asked several questions and was answered abruptly and treated as if I was an inconvenience. I sincerely tried to ignore the treatment because I really wanted to get my glasses ordered. But after about 5 minutes I asked myself do you really want to sit down one on one with them? And I decided that I really didnt. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I will never go there again.

Arrived there with my two children, my insurance information wasnt pulled up, they were trying to get me to pay a whole new copay then what my insurance offered, I always get transitions lens but they gone tell me my insurance didnt offer it, which was completely wrong. My visit lasted a miserable two hours. What should have only been a $30.00 visit came up to $210.00. Not to mention it took me two and a half weeks to get my glasses after getting a text message a week prior saying that they were ready and when I got there driving all the way from Portsmouth, they werent ready.... the worst experience ever and I will NEVER go back. Never!!!!

In National Optometrys defense; Ive been going there for a few years now and not once was anyone rude or disrespectful in anyway. I realize working with the public puts one in a more demanding position however, you never know what someone is going through or is faced with each day. Just be friendly and smile. Sometimes, thats all it takes to make someones day. We are all HUMAN and NOT PERFECT! Sometimes its hard to be the real person you are or want to be when you are faced with problems. I will continue to go there and continue to recommend them to others.

Just like the review that Jeff Staples put up I was told my glasses were on back order the first time I called I was told someone would check to see why they were not in and call me back, no call, so I called again and thats when I was told the glasses were on back order, they were supposed to be ready about the 9th, it is now the 22nd and still no word, I cant quite understand because my daughters and my husbands glasses were done before the original scheduled pickup time

I had a decent experience, one of the four ladies that was manning the front desk help me while the other three ladies looked like they were bored to be there working . However once I saw the gentleman that did the measurements the process was painfully easy . I would go there again because they had a decent enough selection of glasses and the customer service wasnt terrible but average or just above average .

Ive been getting glasses/contacts for years and never have I ever received the kind of experience that I have today. They really need to work on their customer service skills at this place. The doctor wasnt friendly and the folks at the desk were just awful. I wouldnt recommend this place if this was the last eye glasses place on the planet. Save yourself from my same experience and take your business elsewhere.

Cassandra was wonderfully helpful. The nose pad on my frames had broken off 6 months ago and I have been living in such pain until, after 6-8 different stores, Cassandra replaced my nose pad. Instant relief! Thank you National Optometry, for the quality, efficiency, and professionalism instilled in your associates.
