I gave up a long time ago expecting someone to ask if you need help. At least the last 4 times I have been there I couldnt get any. Even today I went and found someone to get help with tents after the one I bought there yesterday let water pour in. They said no problem we will have someone over there shortly. 30 minutes later and nothing. One time maybe they are busy or forgot. 4-5 times in a row is just bad service. EDIT: So just to edit my comment from months ago with a better review. Maybe you should consider going out of business all of the time. For the last few years I have come here and have always had a problem finding anyone to help with anything. I dont think I have ever been asked if I needed help. I finally just got used to it and if I had a question I learned to not even bother to try to find anyone. Today I go in for the going out of business sale. Every single time I had a question I turned and I less than 10 seconds spotted someone to ask every single time. I got great help today! I was able to ask more questions today and actually find an associate more times than all of my other times coming here combined. It was amazing to actually find someone who worked there! Maybe if it was ran like this the whole time the store wouldnt be going out of business in the first place.

I just called about 5min ago. I have been out all day shopping for fishing equipment and shuffling every day life things. Finally picked up the kid from school made it home for dinner and ate with the family. I purchased a 32inch ruler from academy which was about 25.00. My plan was to go to gander mountain after I ate to price check the rulers, but Im tired of driving and shopping. I called an a female employee picked up after the phone rang for about a min. Then she put me and hold only to get back on to say they do carry rulers but she can not tell me what size and price because she had no one to send and check for these details. Slight silence on the phone until I slowly said OK. She quickly replied, Thank you bye and hung up the phone. I have been to this place several times and spent plenty of money here. Every time I am in the store I can not find help and just waist my time standing around. Then when I get help, the employees say they dont know anything because its not their department. By the way I never write reviews and dont rlly care about this stuff, but this place stirred something up inside me. Adding to review, just got back home and found the ruler to cost about 10.00 more. I waist more of my time at Gander Mountain.

On Friday, July 17, I went to this location to shop for two items; a hub style ground blind and a left handed or ambidextrous archery sight. Thinking that I must be looking in the wrong location for the blind, I asked an associate where they were located. I was pointed in the general direction from which I had just come. If they had the blinds, they were not displayed. They simply did not have the archery sights in left handed or ambidextrous. Since they didnt have the items I went for, I decided to shop for some hunting boots. There were several models that interested me but no sales associate to be found. I left with none of the items I went to purchase. Here is a problem with many of these "big box" outdoor stores. They stock according to seasons. The avid outdoors person does not shop seasonally. We try to be prepared prior to hunting season. For this reason many have turned to purchasing equipment online. The cost of shipping is offset by the waste of fuel and frustration.

Every time I go here I leave upset. I dont really blame the sales associates as much as I blame the managers. Things Ive learned from the store: 1. If something has a 50% clearance sign on it, dont believe it. The whole first few racks in the store have 50% off signs on their clothes. Theyre not 50% off. And you wont find out until youre at the register. 2. Their used gun selection is pretty expensive. They sold a Remington 700ADL used for the same price as the new one. Great way to upset customers. 3. Majority of employees dont really care about their customers. There is a chick (whose name I dont remember) in the gun department, and a guy named Joseph. Those two are the best employees at that store, and I hope they move to another store so I can work with them more often. The whole atmosphere is just rude. And you get the vibe that the only thing the stores care about is the immediate sale, not making customers happy.

Just what San Antonio needed, another worthless store; much less a pretend sporting goods store. You know what chaps my hide? False advertisement! Here is a store, that puts out BULK .22 ammo, .22 ammo; Labor Day weekend deals. I went there Friday, during lunch; and they are already out! How is that? Dont you think if you were going to advertise that you had something, YOU WOULD HAVE IT??? Look, there are too many other real outdoor stores to choose from here: Bass Pro Shop Academy Nagels Nardis A Place to Shoot Dicks Walmart There is no place for incompetent stores anymore in America. It would be best, if you leave San Antonio; much less the great state of TEXAS. Maybe, other states accept mediocre performance; but we have had enough of that around this state. So, take your unoriginal, worthless store; and just close shop.

firearms accessories were very limited, quite a bit overpriced on majority of the magpul components, pmags were being sold for $20 where you can normally find the for $15. mbus back up sights were quite more than were i can normally find them, priced at $69.99 and msrp is 57.95 for the rear, and unfortunately only had the rear sights well in stock with no front sights available. ctr stocks were going for 79 were msrp was 59. called yesterday and asked if they carried any and the woman I spoke to told me they only sell them on the rifle. not entirely the stores fault but I think the staff should at least take the time to check or direct me to someone who has that knowledge. they do have a nice selection on fire arms as well as other gear, but its just not the place I would prefer to go I suppose

Went in today looking for a screw for a front site on a handgun. After waiting just under 20 minutes to be helped (it was 9:30 am and they only had one associate in the gun department, understandable), I was told they do not carry handgun parts. I asked, "You guys dont have a gun smith department?" The associate said no. I came to the store because the website advertised, "We have Gunsmith services." Theres also a sign inside the store that advertises Gunsmith Services. I suppose that means they only send it somewhere else. If youre looking for parts or repair, you may want to skip the middle man and take your business to an actual Gunsmith. If youre looking for holsters, this store is for you. Everything else is extremely over priced.
