I have been eying a specific type of jacket for a while now and I was upset when they didnt have the size I wanted. When I talked to an online help specialist about it, she told me it would be unlikely there would be more coming in stock because it was a special edition jacket. A few days later I checked back on the website to see if it was in stock thinking someone might have returned it. Turns out there it was in the exact size I was looking for! I tried adding it to my cart but it wouldnt add because they were updating their website for the sale tomorrow. So I started another online chat, and she told me it was in stock in Portland, OR! I called this store and this VERY NICE, HELPFUL, and PATIENT guy named Rider helped me! He gave me the 30% off sale discount even though its not until tomorrow and he gave me a memory I will never forget. When I called back a second time, another guy picked up and I asked to speak with Rider. My point is, both of these gentlemen were very pleasing to me and I have never experienced such great customer service. Thank you.

this store is really hit or miss.. mostly misses the target for market friendly store. Why.. As noted by others the staff are generally a bit off with there ability to discuss the products tech as well as explain principles. I have on more than one occasion been to the store during normal posted open hours to find they are close "to do" staff taking the day off (posted sign on door) or understaffed. Its great to support staff to promote good will it another thing to abuse the customer and market relations within you serve (waste of energy). Giving this store a 3 stars rating as the product has been generally solid "but" is on a state of decline (or other brands are getting better) over the past that we have so enjoyed. The market is full of choices today and will vote with the buying power to choose another brand. "Brand value is everything" and what makes up brand value depends greatly on the principles of a companys management and this seems to be in a state of loss of direction and what got them to this point.

The Patagonia is unrivaled; the best of the best. This store has a decent amount of each seasons product offerings, albeit with sometimes limited color design options - which is totally understandable as the company offers an epic range of choices online. Anything not available in store can be ordered & purchased at this locations register. Ill note the only negative Ive come across in my many visits to the Portland store: most of the staff is friendly & helpful. But last month (Jan 17) I was met with a serious amount of attitude from a specific employee while making an in-store return. I love the Patagonia brand -seriously, love- and have amassed an enormous collection of their synchillas, down jackets, sweaters, vests and everything else the company releases. To be met with such an aggressive guilt inducing, judgemental return process was somewhat disheartening. Ill attribute said experience to an employee having a bad day, and nothing more.

A friend called was going to REI, i talked him in to meeting me at Patagonia instead. When we arrived we saw 2 signs on the door stating the store was closed for a field trip and that they were out testing their goods and having fun.Ok its Tuesday we drove 15 miles each way and you are on a field trip. What genius came up with this idea. I called customer service and was told this is what we do to keep the help happy. Gee thats nice how about a heads up on your web site or something. But it was no big deal to them and they made that clear. Its called customer service. I also own a retail outlet and we are open 7 days a week. Remember if im happy i tell 5 people about you but if im unhappy i tell 9. and post about it. You lost me and my friends as customers, but hey i hope everybody working there is happy.

I dont normally spend this much on clothes, but I needed a new shirt for a promotion and was greeted by a whole hosts of employees that were eager to help me find what I needed. Its an outdoor clothing store, but read what I said, I got a shirt for work, unexpectedly happy with it too. They also have a selection of backpacks and other gear, as well as a small area for trail food. My only disappointment was finding that my shirt was made in China

We came in to purchase a Synchilla Snap T for my daughters birthday tonight. We had several questions and 3 employees where too busy spinning quarters on a table to help us. When I finally asked an employee for help it felt I was keeping him from joining in the reindeer games with his co-workers. Great product and we did make a purchase but the customer service was pathetic

Jammi (or maybe Jamey) with the septum piercing is the absolute best human. She really helped me out and she deserves a promotion. Patagonia has my forever allegiance and I will only be buying outerwear from them from now on. Seriously the nicest best human. Also the store looks really cool inside and theyre super environmentally friendly!

Alright "mark credit" its companys like Patagonia that lead the way in keeping employees happy and working hard to create and test the best products. If you want your retail store to be open at your convenience all the time then try shopping at Walmart. Loom at how happy their employees are.

After multiple visits to the new location, I feel comfortable making the statement that I miss the old (much bigger) store and sales staff. The staff at the new location is not friendly and seems inconvenienced by doing their job. Ill stick to online shopping for future Patagonia purchases.

Great company and this is possibly the best of the companys stores. Locally involved (loads of events, free yoga, etc.) and some of the nicest AND most knowledgeable employees Ive ran into in a retail business. Actually, the whole building is very cool and worth a visit in its own right!

This might be the most disorganized retail store Ive been in...its like wandering around lost in an expensive swamp. Staff is non-existent. On the day we visited (mid august, back to school time) there was no stock at all for kids kindergarten size. Not. Good.

First of all Patagonia is a wonderful business that you should support. They have strong ideals and make great clothing and gear. The Portland store is full of wonderful people and if you need any outdoor clothing this is the place.

I have only been to this store once, but I absolutely love it! The staff was really helpful and exchanged a jacket for me NO QUESTIONS ASKED! How can you beat that customer service? You cant :) Patagonia customer for life!

Ok place. Not a big fan of their clothing, does not fit me well. I did not think the staff are "the best human beings ever" as other reviewers thought, but they were helpful enough and I got a hat there. Expensive.

Love the look of this place, but it is way too hot! Huge showroom feel, great clothes, wonderful company, but always leave this location sweating which is too bad when your trying on jackets.
