I just had the worst experience. First, I couldnt find anyone to help me despite the tons of red shirts of employees. I asked this old man if he could help me and it was as if I was bothering him so he passed me off to someone else. He gave me very bad directions to the lumber department so he finally walked me over. Last, I finally asked some other old man to help me at lumber despite his desperate attempt to ignore me. Told him what I needed and he just rudely said "no". I was SURROUNDED by what I was looking for but he just said "no". No suggestions, no alternatives, no questions...just "no". Needless to say I wont be setting foot in there again. I think the only reason this place stays open is because its the only game in town. I wish I could give zero stars.

Ive lived in Rhinebeck most of my life so needless to say, Ive been in this store many times. Ill say this about Williams .... You can find some nice things there (especially holiday items) and thats why I gave it the 2 stars... However, if you EVER need help from an employee ... Good luck to you. Almost every employee on the floor is rude, unfriendly and does not want to be bothered with you.they have no problem letting you know this. Its almost as if being rude and nasty and/or obnoxious AND SEXIST is a prerequisite to work there. I ONLY go there if I absolutely have to due to time restraints etc. Im amazed they are still in business actually.

When I went in to pick up a window I had ordered, I walked in the showroom, and WOW, I thought I was in a high end department store !! Very neat , well lit, well organized, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, unlike Dains Lumber in Peekskill, where the sales staff is RUDE and unprofessional. Bill at the Lumber Desk got the paperwork for my window, went to the customer service building, was told where to go, to pick up the window & got help loading it into my truck.

I have been to Williams a few times since moving to Rhinebeck this summer, and every time I have gone the folks have been friendly and the product I need is there. This morning I had a wonderful experience with an employee named Chris, who listened to what kind of project I was doing and walked with me to just the right aisle and helped me look through the different options until we found exactly what would work. Best hardware store youll find. Its a bit mom and pop in a way. If you need help finding something or some advice, you can actually find someone and, amazingly, theyll be willing to help. In fact, youll probably have someone ask you if you need help. How novel (hint hint lowes and home depot)
