I would give this place 5 stars on selection (tons and tons of great fabric), books (always a great selection), and line staff (the girls behind the counter do the best they can with what they have - they are top notch and I cant say enough about they tall lady {sorry I am bad with names}, the new one that just moved there and just started about a month ago {this is April 2017} and the shorter one with longer brown hair {I am short too, we need to stick together}. You are all GREAT!!!!!!!!! Cant say enough about you all and if my review ended here, I would give you all 5 or even 6 stars. However, the manager seems to make up prices based on what you can afford when it comes to the machines, she gives misinformation to her staff while customers are standing there, then the staff had to call back and give me the correct information. I felt so bad for them. The store gets listed in magazines as carrying certain fabrics for a line, like I was looking for a Horse fabric from Northcott, and when I went in they had it in the back, but it was not priced out for sale yet. The staff has to wait for management to price. I live 75-80 miles away. A month passed by and I was in the area, (they said they would call when it was on the floor), so I stopped in. It still was not priced for sale, the Wolf print, but still not the Horse. This panel and the extras that go with it has been advertised in magazines since December 2016. And they are the only one that carries that fabric in the North State, Cali and Nevada. I paid for a class, the owner was the teacher - when we were heading over there we looked up the class on their web page because we had been getting a bunch of different information. First it was going to be 3 different Wednesdays. Then the first day got cancelled, so it was going to be a double class on the day we were going and one more Wednesday. Then it was going to be moved to the Sparks store, then it was going to be a the Reno store. Then I was told it was going to be until 4pm that day, so I arranged for someone to take my child to dance class. But on the site, it said until 2pm and it actually ended before that. On the website it said it was the Panel of the Month and was going to run until July 2017. There is no way I could do that so I was getting upset. Also on the site it said, $199 for the class and the kit if you paid up front. I paid $199 for the kit and $45 for class. So, when we arrived my friend asked about the class hours and I asked about the money part. I showed the owner the website on my phone so she could see the pricing issue. She said, "The website is incorrect, I have one of the girls fix that right away." Something pretty close to that....So, I was pretty upset that I was not getting my money back. There are 4 of us in the class, 2 gals from the area and they stated I would get my money back. I was really excited about the class, as I just started Quilting/Sewing in September last year. The teacher/owner didnt teach anything. The three ladies in the class showed me a few things, but basically it was and iron on kit. All we did was iron on pieces for a few hours. I am hoping next time I will learn a lot more, but I was very disappointed. At the end of the class, about 1:30pm, the owner came and gave me and my friend a refund in the form of a gift card. At the time I was just happy to get that, but I should have been offered cash or credit since it was their error. I know this is a long review - - - However, I have been in there SEVERAL TIMES! I have spent A LOT of money in that store. I bought a new sewing machine, a table for quilting with the machine, a GO! machine, LOTS of dies to go with the GO machine, fabric galore, classes, etc....The staff are SUPER!!!! The store is AMAZING!!! But I am tempted to stick to my other favorites because of these other incidents. Just because your shop is the BOMB doesnt mean you can act like a QUEEN BEE!!! I go to quilt store because of the stuff and the people are amazing...Work on #2 with Management and Up....

I have only had great experiences when shopping at Windy Moon. I love to quilt. I make about 10 to 12 quilts a year, and am always searching for top quality and unique fabrics for my projects. I discovered Windy Moon about 5 years ago, while on vacation in the Tahoe area. I visit the store every chance I get…at least 4 times a year. I always leave with more fabric than I ever intended to purchase. I find their staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and have recommended the store to all of my quilting friends. In fact, Ive taken several of them there. Unfortunately, the store is located about 300 miles from my home, but fortunately, I visit the Tahoe area frequently, and never miss an opportunity to get to Windy Moon! Im sorry to read that others have not had the positive experiences that Ive had there. I had one occasion, this past July, to purchase quite a bit of fabric at Windy Moon. When I returned home from my vacation, I found a phone message explaining that Id been overcharged for the quantity of fabric that Id purchased on my recent visit, and they wanted to rectify the charge on my credit card. A less reputable establishment would either not have owned up to it, or waited until I noticed the discrepancy and made the call myself. I find this exemplary customer service. They sold me on continuing to do business there! My only regret is that they are so far away from my home, but well worth the time to drive there when I can! Dont hesitate to see their selection of high quality fabrics when in Reno, or their cute Sparks location as well!

I bought seven neckties for myself and my groomsmen. I wanted a simple emblem stitched into them (a box with an x in it). I brought them here at the recomendation of my fiancee. When I picked up the ties I saw that on one of them the square emblem is crooked. I left it there and came back when the owner Mike was in, who also ran the stitching machine. I explained my disappointment over the expensive tie now being ruined and asked if he could reimburse me for the tie. He emphatically said no. I told him this tie represents his business to me and asked if he was proud of it. He then started explaining how expensive his machine is. When I asked if he guarantees his work he did not respond. In summary, if this man screws up a square emblem against two parallel lines, he is careless. He is not proud of his work but too proud to amend his mistakes. If you care about your property and the quality of work performed on it, find a business that cares about those things and their customers. Mike @ Windy Moon does not.
