Last week I bought $86 worth of stuff. I paid with $10 in autozone store credit and $76 with my credit card. When I went back to return parts that I did not use (worth about $60), they told me that I will get $10 autozone store credit and $50 back on my credit card.
I wanted all the money back on my credit card because the return amount was less than what I paid with credit card. The sales guy told that’s how their system works. So it is a rip-off as they want your money to be tied in their store credit.
I suggested that they return everything, so that I will get $76 in credit card $ 10 in autozone gift card and then I will repurchase the stuff that I used with the gift card so that I don’t have my money tied in autozone gift card.
The sales person then voided the partial return and tried to return all the items. Now the system will not let them return as it shows that some of the items were returned already. So his excuse was that their computer system is very old and it will take 1 day to put the voided return back. (It showed that I returned stuff instantaneously, why take 1 day for that).
I went back a day later and the system will still not let him return. It still showed that some of these items were returned. The sales guys said he cannot do anything because the system will not let him. Are you kidding me, I have the receipt, just bought the stuff a 3 days ago and the sales person was the guy who voided the partial return the previous day. How can you even say that? I am stuck with something that I don’t want. I am doing everything by your policies.
They were not willing to work or call his manager. They wanted to me to come again the next day when his manager was in store. I refused to come back the next day. This was my second trip already and I was not willing to miss my work and come back the next day in the afternoon. The sales guy was blaming everything on their system in Memphis, how their system is screwed up. I refused to leave and asked him to call his manager.
Finally, he called his manager and he suggested they create some phony customer in their system and return as no-receipt return. He created some phony customer and scanned my driver’s license against these phony customers and processed the returns (3 times, each item separately with different phony customer and my driver’s license).
I was a very happy customer until this happened. If something happens, they will give you a hard time and try to blame everything on their system in Memphis (it is old and what not). I don’t care about their system. I paid them in today’s dollars and want my money back, if I don’t want the item. Just be careful dealing with them, I will definitely avoid them.
I will send this to Federal trade commission as well on how they are trying to tie customer’s money with their rip-off scheme.

My car stalled out in the middle of Manchester road during rush hour. I managed to get some help moving it out of the road and on to a side street. I did some online research for a couple of days and determined that it was a bad alternator. Needless to say, I was having a really stressful few days. I removed my alternator and took it in to AutoZone to have it checked FOR FREE. The female associate was extremely helpful and checked my alternator THREE TIMES just to make sure my alternator was bad. I really appreciated this as she was thorough and cared enough about my car problems to make sure it really was a bad alternator. She offered me a well priced alternator (I had done my research beforehand on typical alternator prices) and I was very happy to walk out of the store with a refurbished alternator (which is typical) and was able to drive my car that day with no problems whatsoever. She even offered me a lot of explanation and advice on alternators that just confirmed the research I had done and helped me feel secure about my purchase and DIY fix of my car. The employees here really care about the problems their customers are facing and I am very impressed with the customer service. I know I was not ripped off or hoodwinked (because I had done prior research) and that the employees really are knowledgeable about vehicles.

Lets just start with the fact that I do not even know how to change my own oil let alone know why my car was idleing so rough I was seeing double! Being as I was cash strapped and couldnt afford a mechanic shop, I went here out of complete desperation! The guy that helped me used a tool to diagnose the check engine light and then walked me through step by step how to change my spark plugs. Then when the ignition coil needed replacing they didnt have it in stock. The guy there literally gave me a phone book, flipped to the right page and said to call their competitor to see if they might have it! Then waited to see if I was taken care of. He then told me of several other places I could check. To top it off before I left he walked me through step by step how to replace the coil!!! HE KNEW HE WASNT GETTING TO SELL ME THE PART BUT HE HELPED ME ANYWAY!!! When I did get the coil, I installed it like instructed and my car works great! Hands down, I was treated with respect and dignity even though I am not even close to a gear head! They were patient, considerate, and went above and beyond. These guys have inspired me to learn to change my own oil and I will without a doubt go back for all my future auto needs. They have a customer for life with me!

Last night my car wouldnt start, randomly. It wouldnt even turn over, it just clicked. Finally after getting someone to jump it, it started right away and was fine but considering the fact that im driving to Tennessee tonight, I wanted to figure out what was going on. So, I took it to this Autozone to have them do a "test" for me. The guy used a battery tester, had the hood up on my car for maybe 2 minutes and instantly told me my battery was "perfectly fine" but I had to replace the starter. I said thanks and left, because at this point in my life I know not to listen to everything the guy at the auto shop tells me without getting a second opinion. So after I left, I instantly took it to my families usual place in the city, St. Louis Hills Autoshop and left it there late last night with a note with happened and my keys in the dropbox. They called me and told me my battery is completely dead and my starter is completely fine. Once again proving that taking my car to Autozone or Dobbs does absolutely nothing except piss me off.

Been here several times.....but on 6/8 10:05 a.m. I walk in with my battery say hello get no response. Waiting 15 minutes while one worker walks by me says nothing. Im writing this as i stand at the table closest to the battery chargers. No one acknowledges Im here.....2 more just walked by me no acknowledgment... Finally Kelly H asked me if Ive been helped. I expect more from Auto Zone before i become a dedicated Advance Auto Parts fan. The fat guy should walk around the store a little bit more.
