When I was a kid I fell in love with reading through the recommendations of Mrs. Wilson - my school librarian - who even when I was 7 knew exactly what books Id like based on what books Id loved before. I have always been a voracious and extremely picky reader. I dont know where Id be without this store. They know me well enough to call me when my favorite authors put out new books - before I even go in to find them. I know about Amazon and GoodReads and everything - but there is NO substitute for people who know you and care about helping you find amazing books. Another great thing is their capacity for gifts - for children, adults, readers, non-readers - they have such interesting things and great ideas for the hard-to-buy-for. They gift wrap beautifully. They have creative and artistic cards. You name it - Spirit is my go to store for my own books and for most gifts I buy for anyone.

My boyfriend and I stopped into this shop last summer when we were visiting Marblehead, and we really enjoyed it. They didnt have the book my bf wanted, but they said they could get it the next day (unfortunately we were leaving town that afternoon). Anyone visiting mhd should stop by this bkstore!

Great bookstore. Friendly and helpful staff. I called in for a book I wanted really badly and they held it for me until I showed up. They had the hardcover and smaller paperback version. The cashier was also nice enough to tell me the sequel is coming out in a few months! Overall great experience.

Honestly I havent looked at the books, but the cards are A+. Always come here for birthdays and holiday cards. Ill have to try the book selection sometime. The atmosphere is very quiet and nice.
