Customer Service Closed at Stop & Shop! I made a special trip to Stop & Shop Amesbury on Sunday to get a money order (I had already shopped for groceries). I called before I went to inquire about availability (dollar limits) and pricing. I arrived prior to 8:00 PM (they close at 9:00 PM). I told the person behind the customer service counter I wanted to purchase a money order. An employee with a handful of keys who was in front of the counter asked me how I was going to pay. When I replied "cash" she said "the drawer is already closed" -- jargon that a customer is supposed to know I guess -- and said that I could use a debit card but couldnt use cash. This "key" employee then walked away. If Stop & Shop wants to close at 8:00 PM, or 7:00 PM -- or whatever time they choose -- thats fine with me. However, if you are open until 9:00 PM -- be open until 9:00 PM. The irony that this department is the "Customer Service" Department would be amusing were it not so completely Anti-Customer Service. SERVE your CUSTOMERS -- not the whims of an employee who wants to "close the drawer" over an hour before closing time.

Store is nice...good deals (on sale items)..otherwise a bit pricey... Bread lasts longer than other stores.... Fruits and vegetables are much better than other local store... Employees are great.. except one older female front end manager... Has horrible attitude.. treats customers and employees disrespectfully...i was overcharged$14.. she would return only $4....refused to let me show her on my receipt that she was wrong and was very rude.. pretty much told me to go pound sand... luckily the store asst. manager was there...she corrected it immediately cause it was very obvious with simple 3rd grade math and apologized profusely....called corporate.. Hopefully it will be dealt with.. should not be allowed to be around customers.

The prices at Stop & Shop are very inexpensive, especially when you stock up when items participate in instant savings (get $5 off your order instantly when buying $15 worth of items) or bonus gas points (get 500 extra gas points when buying 7 items). The natural/organic section tends to be superior to Market Basket, as they have store brands that arent available at MB, meaning I do save 30% on the average item because of this, and theres other items that only Stop & Shop has. I do find that even mainstream products such as deli turkey are better (unless you order the bistro turkey which is S&Ss inexpensive turkey) than other stores. Price have also come down considerably in recent years.

I was so happy to find a whole aisle of gluten free products recently added to your store! I am recently gluten-free and feel like I spend way too much time in grocery stores reading labels. I was driving to Whole Foods for ease of shopping and selection of gluten-free but no more. The selection of recently added products is far beyond what WF carries and the prices were more reasonable. I LOVE that its all together to make shopping so much quicker and easier and more convenient since it is so close by. Thank you Stop and Shop...I know I wasnt the only one shopping in your newly added aisle. I will soon revisit!

You know what. I was between feelings. They have a captive audience for one and second they are a chain. There was only one or two lanes open. Self check out was an experience! I could not scan most items and a worker helped. These machines take the place of PEOPLE and when we get upset with the machine, check out, a person comes to assist. I feel bad for them, because you ass holes put them in a position where they NOW need to start out with people who are already upset. You may say that we train our employees to handle this. That is bullshit. What is up with the smell???

Their food was okay but spoiled easily. One time there was a cashier that found throw up on the ground cleaned it with a few napkins and his hands and then without washing them he bagged our groceries
