Being new to the world of sewing I was excited to go to this store on our way through Ruston recently. To be fair, the first salesperson that helped us was nice enough. However the second lady was one of the most abrasive and rude people I have ever encountered at a retail store. Her only goal was to sell us a machine even though I already told them I had a new machine and that the ones there were out of my price range (we were mostly interested in the fabrics there). After pushing for several minutes and telling us why the machine we had purchased was inferior she left with the words "You get what you pay for and if the machine you have does not make sewing fun you will not stay with it most likely." If paying $599 for a unit that was already marked half off is necessary to enjoy sewing, count me out. However, this has not been the impression I have deduced from many casual sewers out there. Additionally they only offer lessons to people who buy from them because they "dont want people bringing in their cheap machines to work on". In the end I would say this store is out of touch with the beginning sewer who is working with a limited budget and that their target market is an older crowd with large budgets and an interest in quilting and dated fashion projects. In a big city like Dallas, this niche market might need to be met, but in a small town you would think they would enjoy anyone coming in the door looking to spend even $10 on a yard of fabric.

This shop is a gem among fabric shops! With fabrics to meet virtually any sewing project, including fancy silks and embroidered taffetas, linens and wools, more cottons than you can imagine, burlap, canvas, vinyl, tulle, and knits, The Fabric Shop in Ruston is truly a treasure for north Louisiana. The stock of buttons, lace, and trim is impressive, as is the wide variety of notions. If you need a machine, whether for basic or experienced sewing, sergers, embroidery, or quilting, this is your place! Being locally owned and operated is another aspect that makes it so appealing to me. Its an easy little side trip off I-20. I would encourage all to make it their first choice fabric shop.

We frequently visit The Fabric Shop when we are in the Ruston area. I have been thoroughly impressed with the selection of sewing machines and accessories, notions, quilting fabrics and fashion fabrics. The variety of fabrics and sewing accessories available for any type of seamstress is excellent! The staff at The Fabric Shop is always helpful and extremely courteous. They have made me feel very welcome anytime we are there and are always knowledgeable regarding any questions I have. If you are in the Ruston area, a stop by The Fabric Shop is a must!

The Fabric Shop is the best fabric store that Ive been to. Ive been taking sewing classes in Ohio, Texas and Louisiana for 40 years. The owners Ron and Louise Adams provide classes with industry leading educators. The classes at The Fabric Shop are some of the best Ive attended. The Adams also are very knowledgeable about the sewing industry and the sewing machines sold at their shop. The service is outstanding and the customer service is exceptional. Enjoy a visit to Ruston and The Fabric Shop. Faye R.

Tired of being lost in the big box stores? Frustrated with the lack of service in many of the chain fabric stores? Then this shop is for you! Friendly, experienced staff provide instruction, assistance, advice, and support before AND after the sale. From helping select the right shade of thread to the best machine to fit your needs, The Fabric Shop provides the right amount of personal service that has earned my loyalty as a customer.

I love visiting The Fabric Shop! Even when I dont have a sewing project in mind, there is always some new fabric that catches my eye, and I just have to get. The selection of fabrics, notions and sewing machines is extensive for a relatively small location. A must visit for crafters traveling I-20 through the Ruston, LA area.
