Went there today to sell almost 20 DVDs, a couple of books tossed in, and they said they would be a while because there were a few people before us. We browsed the store for not even five minutes and hear our name over the intercom. The lady offered us $14, which is a HUGE rip off. The majority of the DVDs they have the same type there (Wrestling) that we know they sell for $9.99+ because my husband has bought several, and they are a huge seller there. I told the lady thats ridiculous because we both know theyll sell them for that price and up, especially the box sellers, and she had the nerve to give me an attitude and be rude. Youre supposed to be a professional, how awful how they treat their customers. I know a while back, my mom had sold them over 96 CDS and they lowballed her with an offer of $13, for popular cds?! Like Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Prince, etc. Needless to say she took them home and sold them at a yard sale for $5 a piece, when they would have priced them higher than that for one cd. NEVER SELL YOUR ITEMS HERE!! It may be a good place to shop for books, on some dvds, other things are way overpriced. Be wise in choosing what to buy here!!!

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars, I would. I sold 4 GRE books here about a week ago. I got $8 for them and was satisfied with the offer considering people struggle to resell them for ~$4 on Amazon etc. Today, I brought about 5 CDs, ~15 soft cover books, and ~7 hard bound books. I asked if they could itemize the receipt, but she said "we dont do that." They were all in good condition. I was expecting around $15, but the lady offers me $6. Six Dollars. Really? I told the lady about my previous transaction and that it seemed oddly inconsistent and she said that they see the books that I brought in a lot... Let me tell you theres no way they see those books a lot because they didnt even have them in their store and theyre +5 years old. I saw on another review here the guy said that they only offered to buy some of his books. I wish they had told me which of my books they didnt want to offer me money for so I could donate them somewhere else. Dont sell your books here! If you do, only bring a small amount at a time. Youre more likely to get more money that way apparently.

These guys are joking what they want for used movies. Used dvds do not cost $6 anywhere but this place. The same dvds are 1-$2 at any pawn shop in the tristate. To put it into perspective for you, used BLURAYS cost $5 at Quick Cash, used DVDs cost $6 at this gyp joint!!! Been in here a few times and just end up shaking my head at price tags the entire time. The place is ridiculous. Theyre giving 50 cents to $1 for peoples movies then turning around and making $5 or more profit on every one. Im in the wrong business. I picked up a used dvd copy of Mad Max Fury Road while in here today, it was $15! LMAO! I bought it the day it came out for that price BRAND NEW! Smoke crack much Half Price Books? Your customers sure do. Well, theres a sucker born every minute thats for sure.

Well let me tell you about Half Price Books. I went there with 830 paperback books. I knew I wouldnt sell them all but I never thought they would try to rip me off. After they went through all my books they said they would buy 25 for $15.00. Not bad right? Then they tell me they will keep the rest of them(805) to recycle them. Seriously!!!! I am not stupid. They wanted to give me $15.00 for 830 books and wanted me to believe that they were only going to sell 25 and recycle 805. I said no to them keeping the 805 other books sold them 25 books for $15.00 and left. I will never go back there and will never recommend them to anyone and If someone asks me where to sell their books I will tell them Do Not go To Half Price Books.

Im constantly surprised by the price of the books on this store, and unlike Barnes & Noble it is most often a pleasant surprise. They have a decent selection of manga for $4.99 each--half their price at B&N. Even the glossy, full-color manga are only $5.38 or so. It can be quite difficult to find the older or more obscure series at B&N: they stock their three-shelf wide manga section with the entirety of popular series like Bleach and Naruto leaving room for shoujo and not much else. At HPB, Ive found several series I had spent years looking for as well as classics like the original Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Super S as well as the Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho manga. The rest of the store was just as delightful.

This store is incredibly rediculous!! I just took over 75 books to sell to them all are in new and unread condition. Now I know because I am selling them they are still technicaly used and was fully prepared to get 1/3 or 1/4 of the used value so they could resell them and make money. These were not cheap books all hardcovers and an average retail price of $15 to $40. Alot of these books were current, and some were classics....example Harry Potter.....Bill Clintons My Life......HARDCOVERS!! They offered me $12 freaking dollars. I would have sold em cheap, maybe $50 But I will burn them before I sell em for $12!! Half Price BooksSUCK

I have been going here since the day it opened...i was disappointed with what they offered me for the books i took in and they only offered store credit, however, when purchasing books i cannot complain. any books are half price the cover price and as a collector of books i find a lot of them i need in my collections for a great price. Also their clearance racks of books and dvds are amazing deals. we have gotten complete seasons of things for 5.00 apiece..They also have novelty items updated frequently and reasonably priced for the most part. And it keeps people reading ACTUAL books and i Love that!

I have had a love affair with this store until today. I had a BRAND NEW Office 2011 for Mac Student Edition. Never opened, 3 Mac license. On Amazon, these retail for $180. Knowing I will never use it I took it to this store, thinking $50 or $60 bucks which would still give the store $100 at least to profit. They offered my $20. $20?! For a BRAND NEW item? That they would put a sticker on for $100 minimum? Ridiculous! Then the guy behind the counter proceeds to argue with me after I declined and said that was almost obscene. Not sure I will (after making weekly trips) shop here again...

One of my favorite places to go LoL. Everything is organised very well. The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The shoppers are even helpful! Love the selections, the prices, and all the pther merchandise they sell aside from just books. Certainly a place worth checking out for any bookworm, nerd, intellect, history buff, comic book fan, really any and everyone!!!
