I tried to return a part I didnt need and the older Persian guy was very rude. I was rational and calm when I tried to describe the situation but he was aggressive and insulting. It was actually pretty funny how upset he got over nothing. First of all their prices are nothing special. Some stuff is cheap and other stuff costs way more then other places. Second, their policy is crazy when you realize that their part suppliers take back returns so its not like they get stuck with random parts. It is pretty common for people to order parts they might need to avoid getting stuck without a part and a dissembled car. Why take the risk of no returns when you can just order from any number of other suppliers that will take returns without issue.

Le May is NOT closed. Who made that request? I just bought a power-steering pump from there. They are the only place left in Lincoln Park that actually carries parts and supplies, even basic care stuff like motor oil for less than Whole Foods prices. Compare Milito down Fullerton, who will charge $3.15 for 12 ounces of power-steering fluid.

Lemay just moved over from Halsted. It is a no frills auto parts shop that knows exactly what you need. The staff are very helpful. I showed up to the old location just as someone was locking up, and he called the new store, had them get the part I was looking for, and they stayed open while I rode over to get the part! Fair prices.

This is the auto part store (only) the local people will know and love. The part shop smell, the old countermen, the orange rusty Dorman nuts and bolts drawer, the 100 year old cash register. Every detail of it brings up good old memory. They actually do rotor resurfacing, flywheel cutting and bearing pressing for the nearby shops.

I have been using Lemay on and off for over 35 years. Their staff is not always smiling and the prices not always the best (nor the worst) BUT they have always been professional and make every effort to get you what you need. They usually supply you with QUALITY American or OEM foreign parts rather than junk Chinese garbage.
