If you want to have the worst customer service experience of your life, by all means go to Piasa Photo Services. I sent an old Ricoh SLR in to be fixed (shutter and light seals were not working properly). They charged me $125.00 immediately. They promised me the camera would be be fixed in 1-2 weeks. It wasnt. I kept on calling about it, they said it had not been sent back from yet from the repair shop. I must have called 15 times - only once did they even return my call when I didnt speak to them in person. After 12 weeks I demanded my money back. Never once did they apologize for the delay, in fact they even gave me a hard time for having an old camera fixed. It was unbelieable. The manager Chuck kept on saying, when I went by the store and the camera was not it, that it would be in in a few days. Personally, I dont believe they ever even sent it out, probably some kind of racket. Truly unbelievable experience! Dont ever, ever, ever take your camera within a half-mile of this place. I personally blame the owner Chuck - must be the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. If the things have changed as the previous reviewers say, I certainly didnt see any evidence of it. If I had the option of giving them 0 stars, I would do it.

Living about 50 miles east of St Louis I went searching the Belleville, O Fallon area over for a Hoya circular polarizering filter on Friday but I came home empty handed. On Saturday while visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Edwardsville I checked out the local camera store and found out they didnt carry Hoya filters either. With a single phone call to Piasa Photo in Alton I found out that they had Hoya filters, the type and size that I needed.Getting there right before closing time did not present a problem, I found the employee to be vey nice and helpful. Having a top of the line filter says a lot about this business and I hope in the near future I will be able find out what other good things this business has to offer.

Chuck, one of the owners, was very accomodating selling me a camera. I like to patronize locally owned and operated businesses, because they provide the community with independent owners and a level of expertise and commitment that one does not find at a national chain. I believe it is worth it to pay a little extra for the experience and commitment that experienced photographers/owners bring to the community. First rate all the way. He is able to juggle many jobs and still be polite. I highly recommend Piasa Photo.

Paid $390 for repairs to two items. Got tired of excuses like "the guy that works on that lens is on vacation" and demanded everything be returned. Nothing had been repaired and he is trying to only refund $265 because he says the one article kinda works. Im a full time professional photographer that thought it would be good to do business locally and support someone that is in business. Big mistake. Take your money elsewhere.

I was looking for a bag for my camera, and went to at least five different stores before Piasa. All those other stores either didnt have what I wanted, or had ridiculous prices. Piasa Photo, however, had exactly what I was looking for, and the price was well within reason. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and gave me some good advice about my camera.

He sold me a lens that does not fit my camera. Ive been trying to return it for a refund for over 3 months. He keeps telling me hell have the money next week I was finally able to return my lens extension that didnt fit my camera. After driving 40 miles round trip he gives me a post dated check. Dont do business with this person
