I was waiting in line when Friday 11/24/11 around 3-5pm when my dad a 70 yr old member of Costco needed to use the restroom (slight emergency), I have the same name so he gave me his membership card (I am a member too but left my card at home) to check him out and rushed to the bathroom because he felt sick. I knew just by the way she looked that MARIBETH was probably the wrong checker to go to, I got the vibe she was more interested in looking good for her bosses than giving good customer service, but I was already in her line. Sure enough, she diligently checked the picture, and even though my father and I have the exact same name on our drivers license, and even live at the same rural address, she refused to let me check out. I asked if they could suspend the transaction and put it aside till my father came back. She didnt seem to care but instead called SCOTT over, he was the senior on duty up front, he treated me more like a possible fraud suspect than a paying customer/member. Wrote down my drivers license number and made me follow him across the floor to the managers table before handing me back MY id and AMEX. Even though I said I would be back in 10 minutes with my father to check out. When I returned shortly with my father, JILL had put all $800 of our stuff back because she said, "I glanced around and didnt see you here still", even though I asked them if they could wait 5-10 minutes. She had also turned her name-tag backwards so people wouldnt see her name. I spent my # at Ralphs & Best Buy instead.

Today, I stepped into COSTCO with a need/request. My membership had expired and I was unable to renew it but planned to do so within 2 weeks - with the next paycheck. I went to the customer service desk and explained my need/request something like this: My membership has expired and I am unable to renew it at this time. I plan to renew it but just do not have the funds right now. My daughters birthday is today and she has asked for a COSTCO Chocolate Cake. Is there anyway I could purchase this item? The first lady I spoke with was polite and surprised that a child had requested the COSTCO Chocolate Cake. However, she was unable to authorize my making the purchase and she called someone else to help me. The second lady arrived and was also unable to help other than showing me who I needed to speak to and putting me at the end of the line in front of her counter. The third lady had no interest in my problem. She stated the COSTCO rules and showed no concern or compassion for my situation. Her attitude was bone chilling. I left. I may not renew my membership.

My wife purchased a card and added me to the account we usually go together but, i just needed some protein powder and they have good deals so i went on my own. Well go to walk into the store and the "greeter" didnt greet me at all she acted as if i was trying to sneak into the store repeatedly asking for my card, i said "can you wait for me to dig it out geeeeezzzzzzz??????" she rips it out of my hand and looks at it then doesnt even look at me when she hands it back. I start browsing around looking at what all they had thinking i just hit a bad apple and no that wasnt the case the whole staff is rude and you cant ask any questions with out getting snapped at! I felt as if i seen an employee that i crossed on a fork lift i was gonna have to run and dive into the clothes rack lol When i got home i told my wife about the experience and she said they treat her the same way which is too bad because you invest $ in the card to save money but the employees leave such a bad taste in your mouth "managers dont seem to care" smart n final will have to do!

Its a relatively small Costco, as far as Costcos go. Be prepared for a hefty line during peak hours, although I will say the staff are pretty good at moving things along. If you grew up in Washington like I did, then youre accustomed to wider aisles and less chaos. This one is kind of cramped, particularly just upstream of the intersection of the fresh veggies, frozen foods, and cleaning products/terlet paper. Holiday weekends are the worst because the normally-efficient family units are now blended with out-of-town members that dont know the flow, walk quintuple-file, and have communications that are out of sync, preventing them from noticing you trying to get by. Otherwise, its a good Costco that always seems to have the staple items Im looking for.

a little surprized that some reviewers complained about the employees being rude I personally have been treated very well, of course anyone can have a bad day,and get a little irritable I found that when that happens a little humor and a smile on the customers part usually wins them over.too bad that doest always work at dmv.lol the only real complaint I have is sometimes when you find something you really like, they stop carring it bummer. my new favorite item I recently discovered was their fresh baked cheese cake.yummy it seems to get better as it gets a little age on it..signed mr hoover from atown ps its not the parking that sucks its the morons who cant seem to understand the concept of a 4 way stop sign.

Costco is the bomb and this one in SLO is no different. We have the largest wine selection of any Costcos in CA. being in wine country and all. I have no complaints about this Costco or its employees. They are all nice and polite and very helpful. Now for the 2 who left 1 and 3 stars because of a friggen chocolate cake? seriously?! Seems like its more your problem, then Costcos! Give me a break. And to the lady who couldnt purchase the cake because she couldnt afford her renewal of her membership? How could you afford the cake then? Costco is really good about not letting non-members in, period. Thats why its called a MEMBERSHIP wharehouse

Chris, and other members of the tire crew, spent a considerable amount of time providing service under warranty. At every step they did an exceptional job! Initially, I came in for a flat repair, which they fixed. My tire went flat again. Chris was able to determine that I had a cracked rim. Chris and the tire crew replaced the rim and tire twice. The first rim turned out to be the wrong part for my vehicle. Second time was the charm. Chris went the extra mile by dunking the tire/rim to make absolutely sure that there were no more leaks! Costco stands behind their product and will be the only place I purchase future tires.

Everyone knows that the All American Chocolate cake containers open up and spill chocolate flakes everywhere. On the store floor , the carts and eventually melting in your car. After handling the container carefully myself, the employees usually grab it when re-loading it into your cart, busting it open causing the chocolate mess that COSTCO knows is a problem. I know this because I have heard employees complaining that it always happens. Dear Costco, take a second and tape the bottom like is done with the other cake containers. IT SUCKS!
