I went to Ikea store and purchased few things.I can tell you there is no single second shopping experience I got it from there. Once you note the item article no ( table or chair or anything except big stuffs) then you need to go to each row and take the appropriate item and put it in the trolley. You need to be a worker and a shopper at the same time. Now nightmare comes when you really buy say a mattress. Then they will give an order sheet which you need to submit to the delivery section. Finally it will be billed after standing in a long queue .Remember if you are arranged items in trolley with the bar code hidden, then you are gone. You need to take every item in trolley and rearrange..Now comes the greatest frustration. There will be a long queue like a caltrain in the delivery section where we will learn tremendous patience ( no need to take any personality course, I promise you ) . Around 7.30 PM I went to the queue and to move each person forward, it takes 15 to 20 mts. Worse than 101 N over bridge traffic. Finally around 8.45 PM I am able to make my presence at their desk. Around this time I see slow motion scene from a movie..Ohh sorry to say you are too slow or you dont have enough enthusiastic resources to make the delivery service better.Yes If am you r CEO, I will make that things happen within moments . One time I thought of canceling the entire order. But at that time I was almost 5 hours late !! Now the lady at the desk started doing conversation with me. She scanned every other items and then for the mattresses she told me to go to another queue (furniture delivery) I was really shocked ! First time I had this kind of experience. Never ever I go to this store again..Then I waited in furniture delivery almost 1 hour and I had a chat with representative..He told me to wait another 15 mts and finally he noted down my order no in a book and asked me to go to delivery service. Wooooo...Then comes the "No Availabiliy Date" answer from the lady. "I can deliver only after 3 days, the other slots are full " . Look here I am not the reason of being other slots full. You need to make arrangements to make every slot available for every customer . I am an Indian .Remembering these words from our father of my nation " A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so." While writing about this complaint, my fingers are fast moving typing the keywords because of frustration and disappointment.Guys you need to make your delivery service logically improved. The current system is outdated. Apart from focusing on revamping the warehouse, let us do this

Worst IKEA experience Ive ever had. This one store has convinced me to never buy from IKEA again (and I say that as someone with an apartment full of IKEA furniture). I called about a standing desk to see if they had the 2 pieces in stock. They said yes, multiples of each. I got a co-worker to go with me to help me transport the pieces. When I got there, the inventory system said they had 2 items of the 1st piece available and 0 items of the 2nd piece. Which means the worker on the phone was full of it. So I tried to get at least 1 of the 2 pieces because I had brought my coworker all the way out there. I go to grab one of the 2 available items and, guess what, not a single one on the shelf. I go ask about it. Not a single one in the back. Their inventory system was also wrong. I was 0 for 2 after driving to the store with a coworker doing me a favor. A worker on the floor said call back Monday when our next shipment comes in and have them set the items aside for you. I call back on Monday and I am informed that the shipment is coming in on Friday. I call back on Friday and I am informed that the shipment is coming in on Sunday. I call back on Sunday and finally the shipment has come in. I ask the worker to hold the items for me. He says they dont hold items for customers. I said hold on a second, it was your own worker that told me to do this. He says he doesnt know who I talked to, but they dont do that. Fine, I convince my coworker to help me out one more time and we go to the store within a day to catch them while its in stock. I grab the desk base and the table top as per the instructions of the first worker I spoke with. On the way out Im feeling ify about the sizes of the boxes. The table top doesnt seem like its long enough for the base. I stop at an info station and I ask the worker "Does this table top go with this base." He looks at the boxes and says yes. I say again "Im worried about the sizes of these boxes, are you absolutely sure." The worker types some numbers into the computer and says that he is sure. I go and check out and drive home. Not 30 f***ing seconds after I open the boxes at home and its completely obvious that the table top is the wrong damn one. Well now Im out of delivery favors from my coworker, Im sitting here with the wrong table top, and nobody will pick up the phone at the store. Never again IKEA. Never. Again.

The store itself is comparable to the others Ive been to across the country and selection is good. The only major gripe I have with is the delivery service - Id say its more related to the company having the contract to deliver everything ordered at IKEA and not IKEA itself. I had a terrible first experience with the delivery service @ the East Palo Alto store. I was promised a window from 9AM - 1PM and so did the order say. But then on the delivery date, not only did no one show up during the time frame, none bothered to let me know what was happening. I had to be on hold for 1/2 an hr on the IKEA number to get hold of someone who just passed the buck to the delivery company (As much as I can understand there was nothing she could have done about the delay, but when I asked was there anyone I could talk to about the missed deadline, she plainly stated IKEA had nothing to do with delivery!); So I call the delivery company and get put on hold for 1/2 an hour more, the guy who gets on the phone finally, puts me on hold further to trace the shipment and tells me the crew is @ a previous delivery site and come around for my stuff to be delivered as soon as they can. When I asked to talk to someone about the missed deadline, he said hed put in a note for a supervisor from the SFO office to call me - hasnt happened until now!; Finally the guys show up at 5.00 PM and all my stuff is dirty and scuffed, the mattress cover is torn and there is grease all over it. The other packaging appeared crushed at the ends and the wrapping torn. When I got to unpack the furniture, ends of wooden planks were mashed as if they were banged hard against something, the biggest problem is the dirty, greasy mattress! I know it was all immaculate when I picked it up and dropped off for delivery. Im now regretting my decision to have had it delivered, I should have just rented a U-Haul and got a couple of guys to get the stuff in and out of the truck, costs bout the same. Not only did I end up getting stuck at home all day waiting for the delivery, also got all my stuff trashed. Terrible terrible experience. Cant just return it, it will cost me to haul it back and IKEA wouldnt take back the trashed items.
