I generally Love Big Lots. This location is my neighborhood store. However, last night as I was checking out, I was being helped by a young cashier, I believe her name was Ally? While Ally was checking out my things at the register with a great smile and excellent customer service by the way, another employee who I assume was her Boss or Supervisor was reprimanding her about her lateness. It made me extremely uncomfortable and I noticed Ally was handling it very well, however, it is not Ok to reprimand an employee in front of customers. Ally responded calmly and stated that she was only 5 minutes late, reminding him that she is Never late. She also stated as he continued to reprimand her that she had a very rough night. She told him that someone had died and that most of her evening was spent in the Hospital. When the male employer finally got off of her back, I asked Ally if she was OK and was the person that died someone close to her. Her reply? It was my MOM. I cannot begin to explain how sad that made me. I gave her my condolences and told her that she should have called out. Smh. She told me that she cannot afford to miss work. What a heavy burden for a young girl (18-20) to lose her Mother, be forced to come in due to financial necessity, and then be harassed publicly about it! Im so angry and sad. I did not unfortunately get the name of the man that was speaking to her, however, everyone needs to take a step back and put themselves in the next persons shoes. Show compassion, be empathetic, the title Boss does not call for such Harshness, Impatience or just plain Ignorance. This is not OK. NEXT STOP CORPORATE! IM SO DISHEARTENED AND ANGRY!.

Last night I scootered over to my local Big Lots store as to wanting to buy my cats some new kitty litter. Due to my budget I could only afford a big bag of their cheap "in house brand", but when I arrived and walked to the cat isle they were out. I quickly got the attention of Kimberly a store employee and asked if there might be some in the back? She went to go look, and God bless her soul, for it took a while, and out she came with what I wanted, I thanked her and purchased it, and then scootered home happy that my cats litter box needs were handled. I was just super please with the care and attention that Kimberly took getting me handled, this was a huge display of why this is a store I am happy to come back to, time and time again!

Ive been going into the Carmichael store now for about 7 years and I cant think of one time I couldnt find someone to help me within a reasonable time frame. Their prices are difinitely lower than most major retail stores. Today I bought some Jack Daniels barbeque sauce fie $200 less than most grocery charge. Friendly employees also, make me look forward to going back.
