So, this was my first time in an Ace Hardware. My girlfriend and I were doing a DIY cat post and we didnt really know to much about measurements or really anything regarding what would be in a hardware store. When we first walked in we went to the back where the wood posts were and were trying to decide what would be best. We were pestered by the same employee 4 times within a 5 -10 minute period asking us if we had decided what we wanted yet. We had told him the FIRST time he asked that we would get him if we needed help. The last time he just stood behind me less then a foot away and didnt say anything.. we were dressed for the gym and definitely did not look like we would steal anything in my opinion, so I wasnt sure what the deal was with not leaving us alone for even 1 full minute to shop. We chose a piece of wood, had him cut it for us, and stopped for a second to look at nails and nail guns, we noticed at that point we were pretty obviously being followed by employees. This was humiliating to me because we had never once acted like the type of person that would steal anything and definitely did not look like it. Being in the store felt so unbelievably uncomfortable that I told my girlfriend that I wanted to just leave. We go to check out and the woman was extremely rude when asking for my ID to put with my debit card, which I thought was strange until I realized they only had credit on their machine. I wanted to say something about the uncomfortable experience to her but when she proceeded to give me a speech about how they need to card everyone because of all the people that dont use their own cards paired with how rude she was I decided to leave a review instead. Will NEVER go back. Home Depot has ten times the selection for cheaper and way better employees. Very approachable and they do not badger. Very friendly.
