So, we decided to take a trip to 2nd and Charles today where we encountered a complete uncalled for response from your associate MARY. When we walked in, my wife and I, we saw this associate setting up a sign in reference to the Lego Batman costume contest etc. We have a son who is totally into Batman so this seemed like it could be right up his alley. I approached, MARY (as she informed us of her name) and stated "HEY PRETTY GIRL, I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY." Well, she TURNED AROUND AND STATED "WEIRD OPENING" WHILE GIVING A TOTALLY NEGATIVE FACE TO US. IT WAS LIKE WE HAD JUST CALLED HER A NAME IN 2nd GRADE THAT WAS MEAN AND SHE WAS GOING TO TELL THE TEACHER. NOW OF COURSE THIS WAS NOT INTENDED TO OFFEND. I AM ASSUMING SHE MUST BE THIS HARDCORE FEMINIST AGAINST THE WHOLE MAN RACE OR SHE HAS NEVER RECEIVED A COMPLIMENT, WHICH WE COULD UNDERSTAND THIS AFTER TODAY. NOW MY WIFE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND SHE WAS EVEN STUNNED ON HOW MARY ACTED. WE THEN WALKED OFF BECAUSE AT THIS TIME WE HAD FELT WE DISRUPTED AND OFFENDED POOR MARY MAYBE SHE WAS UPSET BECAUSE SHE WAS WORKING ON A SATURDAY IN RETAIL? God Forbid you have to work on a weekend in retail. Know over my 40 plus years within the customer service industry I have been called worse and always seem to keep the customer satisfied by using soft skills and more. How is MARY even in this business? Maybe she needs another career but she needs to go through some training. There was nothing inappropriate sated to this young lady. No one touch her or even cursed at her. Of course 4 people will no longer shop there but to your big business I a, sure this is no loss to you. Of course word of mouth is very good at spreading reviews of a store or company. The way we were treated today was very disrespectful and if "PRETTY GIRL" is offensive to her then I should have retracted my statement and stated how UGLY SHE WAS. The point being is that Mary could have taken her fake smile and assisted us. We hope that 2nd & Charles has a better customer service training and if you do not .....well you should think about it and put MARY on top of the list. Thanks and I hope to hear back from you but I know I probably will not LOOK INTO THIS LOCATIONS CUSTOMER SERVICE: 9004 West Broad St Richmond, Virginia 23294

We go in and take books to be sold. All in good condition. They give us 10 back and say they would not be able to take those. No problem, we still gave them 40 more. Gregory gives us a ticket and tell us they will call us in 3 hours to give us the price that they will pay or store credt. No call. We go back the next day. and they cannot even find the books. We show the ticket and wait and wait and they finally find them. Said they cannot take any and give them back, all 40 of them. I request a manager. A tatooed, pierced up looked to be doped up as well, male, says he does not know what happened or why we were told that but we must have misunderstood!!. I say no, that is what Gregory said. He just walked away. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN. We took all 40 books and had to load them back in the car.THESE PEOPLE ARE COMPLETELY DECEITFUL AND CON ARTISTS. THEY ARE LIARS AND AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE LAYOUT AND MERCHANDISE, IT MAY BE THIS LOCATION THAT HAS HIRED THE LOWEST UPON LOWEST THUGS BUT THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE WEST END OF HENRICO ANYWAY. If you must go there, maybe try another store with personnel that are not on drugs...I am not mad they did not want the books, that is their perogative and they make the rules, however; told me they would take all but 10 and then reniged. If they just had said they did not want any from the beginning and had not lied about calling or buying the books, it would have been no problem.

Ive sold a good number of old books, DVDs, and action figures that I did not want to keep anymore to this location. The associates were always very helpful, and the processing time for my trade-ins was very reasonable. There is plenty to look at in store , and equally as many places in the surrounding shopping area to have lunch or dinner while waiting for an order to be processed. Not everything you bring in can be accepted for trade, i.e. very worn items, hardcover books missing the cover sleeve, and if an item just isnt very popular or relevant to the rest of what is being sold. Prime example, my collection of factory sealed, large die-cast model World War II airplanes...but hey, I had a feeling that was a long shot to begin with. Trading in for cash will be half of what you get in store credit, but that only makes absolute sense from a business standpoint. As far as item selection, this store has a TON of video game, movie, anime, and more memorabilia. Their movies, video games, music, books, and comics selection are equally massive and impressive. Out of the multiple times weve shopped here we have always had a pleasant experience with every associate, and the establishment has always been very clean with great merchandising displays. I pray that 2nd & Charles has much success here in Henrico for many many years to come, as it truly is a fun place to shop!

Finally went in here today after hearing great things from a few people. Amazingly well organized, good prices on most everything and a nice, quiet place to get lost for an hour or two. People rating down because of the buying procedures: every business that buys to resell (Platos closet, Ashby in Carytown, clothes mentor, uptown cheapskate) always offer very little for your items. That isnt bad business; thats what you get when youre too lazy to open an eBay account or hold a yard sale. Three employees asked if I needed any help, I was greeted when I walked in, and my checkout was friendly and fast. Great customer service. Beware: bring a bag, no plastic bags here. Super impressed! Sure, Id get books cheaper at Goodwill, but who can find anything on those shelves?

Its a great place to find books and music. They have a pretty wide range of comics and geek stuff too. There is a separate section for buying and selling used items including games, books, electronics, consoles. Be warned though the prices you get are fairly low, comparable to Gamestop. Still I would much rather go here than Gamestop to sell my old stuff. I deduct two stars becuase their prices are always much higher for everything than what you would find online and in many cases even other brick and mortar stores. I have never seen discounts on anything (except for the Crosley Turntable for some reason) tldr; better than Barnes and noble but not by much

Walking in here for the first time today, I was taken aback at how wide the store was. Anything to suit your entertainment wants and needs can be found at 2nd & Charles. Books, CDs, vinyl records, DVDs, Blu-Rays, toys, comic books, video games, etc. The greatest part of all is that most stuff in there is for a fairly low price. The store is pretty much like FYE, Borders and Books, the comic book store, and Game Stop all morphed into one. Im glad to see something good came out of the old Babies R Us building. 2nd & Charles is your ultimate entertainment store thats certain to stick around the Richmond area for years and years to come
