I have never had anything but positive experiences at Sunrift. Over the years, I have purchased 4 kayaks and 2 paddle boards from there. Most recently, my paddle board fell off my trailer on I-26 and got a large gash on its side. I dropped it off and John (boat man extraordinaire) called me with a very reasonable quote to fix it a day later. Within a week, he called me to say the board was ready. I could not believe it when I saw it. The board truly looked brand new. The only way I could tell where the gash was is that the area looked slightly more shiny than the rest of this board that has never been used. From my first call there to when I picked it up, the staff could not have been any more friendly. They even stayed open past closing time when I was running late to drop it off due to weather related traffic. I have had numerous interactions with Matt over the years and he truly makes you feel like you are among family there. This is my first interaction with John but what a craftsman he is. I thought my board was a goner with the damage exposing the core foam but he repaired to its original state. I would say Travelers Rest is lucky to have these two men and this store but it is truly the upstate of SC and western NC that benefits from their knowledge and expertise. I have read some of the other reviews about pricing but like anything in life, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for the lowest price around, you might not find it there. What you will find is a knowledgeable and friendly staff that will help guide you in your buying process. Thanks again Matt and John for all of your help! I look forward to using your store in the future.

The great thing about this store...You can touch things. Short anecdote: I was looking for a knife. Every store I went to has knives (5ish stores). But they are all in plastic packages. I cannot feel the knife, I cannot test the sharpness, I cannot observe it properly. And selection is often poor due to low quality. In fact, most stores have them in clam-shells and locked to the wall so you cant even view the product details on the back of the package. And good luck getting someone to get it off the wall. You walk into Sunrift... not only can you play with the knife, someone is more than happy to tell you about it, and not completely ignore the fact that you exist because they hate their dead end job. They are more than happy to help out, and are pretty damn good at it. Yes... there is a RETAIL environment where the help does not consist of neanderthals! More places should be like this. I have spent more money here than I care to count, and If I will gladly pay more (even though its often not more but less) just so I dont have to get pissed off at how stupid most retail environments are. I have never been angry while in this store... but I am constantly irritated and disappointed every time I walk into a big box store. You can look at reviews on items all day, but when it comes down to it, if you cant feel it, touch it, and experience it... you dont ever know that youre getting what you really want until its too late. And you wont be able to do that if you showroom. PS: They carry nice shoes.

Super cool place for cyclist, hikers, campers or kayakers... this place seems to have it all. I went to rent a Mtn bike for the day to go out with my brothers, and it was super easy to do so. While I was there I checked the place out and saw they sold a ton of stuff beyond bikes. They had North Face gear, Patagonia apparel and tons of camping gear. Staff seemed to know their s#!t and were helpful and even sized the bike up for me before I took it out for the day. I almost wished I lived in the area, I would visit this place all the time. My only reason for the 4 vs 5 star is that I was not a huge fan of the bike brands they carried (Raleigh for Road and Kona for Mtn). Small selection for bikes and accessories compared to a full fledge bike shop, but impressive that they also had a ton of other adventure gear.

Very helpful and very knowledgeable. Wife and I just bought our first kayaks and their main concern was making sure we made a very informed decision instead of "hey look at this big, expensive, shiny one over here". They talked to us for around 30 minutes figuring out what we planned on doing and giving advice so we made a good decision. From where I live there are a few "big box" stores that are closer but youre not going to get the help you will with these folks. Going back for everything else we need.

The team members at Sunrift make this place stand out. They play their sports as much, if not more, than they retail them so their opinions are tested. Bike shop is especially helpful and the boating center has many options, including SUP boards. Prices comparable, if not a little cheaper, than other independent outfitters. Cute decor and fantastic map section. Play local, shop local!

Very nice local outdoors store with a knowledgeable staff. They usually have good deals when the seasons change and theres always a clearance rack in the middle back (to the right of the shoes and left of camping supplies). This place almost always has what Im looking for and despite being small, still carries all the big brands like smart wool, Salomon, big Agnes, etc.

Sunrift is a great outfitter shop. I recently purchased Astral Brewers to improve my traction in and around rivers when rock hopping or setting safety. They have a large selection of outdoor goods and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. They support the local community and outdoor clubs too.

I shop here frequently and I live in Greenville. I have found the staff to be the most knowledge around and most of them are outdoorsmen and many paddle. Ive never had a bad experience. I also find their prices to be the same on national brand names as other stores. I love the place.

Excellent spot for all your outdoor activity needs! People are extremely knowledgeable and they have a wide selection of products. If you ride the Rabbit trail like I do they even have free air on the left side of the building by the stairs. Life saver for me!

One of the few good independent non-chain stores left. Good selection, excellent and knowledgeable help. Im planning on buying a kayak (when it gets warm enough!), and these will be my go-to guys.

Good products, but are overpriced. Even the used equipment can be purchased cheaper online. The employees are friendly enough and willing to talk about what outdoor sport youre researching.
