Im in the area on vacation for a week. I was looking forward to a family bike ride and selected this store after calling. The staff is very friendly but the service itself was pretty slow. It seemed like this was the first time doing a rental (although I knew it wasnt the case). He was easily confused by straightforward questions we asked, didnt have much knowledge of the area or recommendations of routes to ride with my 9-year-old. The price was good but next time, I think well rent a city bike in an area we want to ride because biking from downtown to a coastal area isnt reasonable in a 4 hour window (something we discussed on the phone prior to renting). On the phone it seemed like the waterfront ride was coastal but it turned out to be miles along a freeway like road (not something I was comfortable with my child doing). We initially planned on renting a mount to take the bikes to Mission Beach but they only had mounts for cars not SUVs. We made the best of it, enjoyed the sunny breezy day, and decided on city bikes from now on.

A few years ago I rented a bike from this shop when I came into town for a convention (had the bike for 3 days, rode in the morning). The bike was an entry-level road bike that rode nice and had no problems (except for a pinch flat that was my fault, I had it fixed quickly with the included tools). The guys at the shop were friendly and helped me get setup. The rental rates are low. Having a bike turned a ho-hum business trip into an adventure. Sand Diego is an excellent place to ride a bike. I highly recommend the Silver Strand (take the ferry over to Coronado), Mission Bay/Beach and Loma Point. My wife and I are planning a San Diego biking trip for February and I insist on renting from Bike Revolution.

The staff at BR is great. When I moved downtown I purchased two commuter bikes from them that were reasonably priced and impeccably maintained. Since then, Ive gone to them for my repair needs and have always been treated to the absolute best service. Yesterday my dog and I went in with my a bent rim and I expected to drop it off for the day. By the time I was done introducing Brody (dog), I was handed a brand new wheel with the disc, tube and tire mounted. Ryan and the guys had me back on the road within minutes and at a steal of a price. Great place to do business whether you live in San Diego or are visiting and want to rent.

Horrible customer service. I was looking forward to my trip to San Diego and wanted to see the city by bike. I made a reservation via the store’s website for a guided tour and I spoke with them on the phone two times regarding the exact time to meet at the store. To my surprise the morning of my scheduled tour I was told they had no record of me making a reservation. Instead of calling to see if they could get someone to come in to guide the tour I was told I could just rent a bike and tour on my own. The guy had an “I could care less” attitude about the whole situation.

Nice service at the time of purchase and I was told a copy of sale receipt with serial number would be available on request. Unfortunately this was not true, neither the receipt or the owners manual had the serial number on it and having not registered with Kona, mid way through my 30,000km bike tour, on the basis of this false information, I am unable to identify and claim my stolen bike from the police. I advise seeking a store that in worst case scenario can bring up serial number of your purchase as is a norm in many other outlets all over the world.

After reading some negative reviews given to the shop I was a little hesitant to go here to rent during our recent vacation. However I also read that the shop had new owners and things had changed. I have to say my wife and I had a great experience renting from these guys. The service was quick and easy, the bikes were in great shape, they had brand new helmets and gave a good Kryptonite lock for the rental price which is a great deal for $25. Will definitely rent here again next time we are in San Diego.

They were great. Be up front with them on what you want they deliver. I came in from MN, had a road bike rented ahead on line, bike was ready to go, payed them, and I was on my way in 15 minutes. I put on the pedals myself but they were very willing to help if I needed them installed. Bike came with repair kit - tube, levers, and CO2 cartridges. I put on 95 miles in 2 days and had no issues. Return was easy and clean. Rental prices were very reasonable. You guys Rock. Thank you, Adam

Ive rented a bike here 8 times for week long trips to San Diego. Couldnt recommend these guys more highly. Good selection and variety of bikes to choose from. Very reasonable rates, theyll also do pickup or drop off. The guys who work here make sure the bike youre renting fits you correctly. The bikes are really reliable and run smoothly. Whenever we go to San Diego The Bike Revolution is one of my first stops.

Rented bikes for myself and my wife. Bikes were ready to go, in very good condition and stocked with tubes, levers, and a hand pump. Staff was very helpful in recommendations on where to go and the best way to get there. Bike path heading north along the bayfront is very congested, but once you get past the main piers it clears up nicely. Excellent experience.

Had an emergency and needed my bike boxed up immediately. Unfortunately the guys at the shop had a full list of work but Scott helped me out big time and gave me a bike box and helped take a pedal off. Was able to get everything boxed up and caught my flight. They saved my butt and Id go back to their shop anytime Im back in San Diego! Thanks again Scott!

I rented a bike during the 2017 ESRI UC. The service and staff are amazing. When I had an issue the owner and staff immediately addressed it and went above and beyond to help me. I will be a return customer and highly recommend their service shop and bike rental. If you are a local they have killer deals on previous rental bikes!

I did a last minute rental with The Bike Revolution over the phone for two road bikes, both bikes were setup as asked, and well prepared. We rode up the waterfront through Mission Beach and La Jolla - definitely recommend. Nimitz Highway was straightforward - although I am a very experienced Roadie.

Great bikes and prices and an easy company to work with. The trails around the area are congested were there are trails and the roads are way too busy. The ride to Ocean Beach was ok until we had to get on Nimitz Hwy which was pretty nerve racking at times. The Ocean Beach area was nice though.

Very compassionate, genuine and generous staff. I came in with low tires and a dry chain. They pumped up my tires and greased up my chain for free! Felt like they were just so willing to help me out without looking for any kind of payback. HIghly recommend this shop.
