For the past 3 months I have stopped into Pinkus every morning to pick up my lunch, breakfast, and snack for the day. Whenever I have arrived the older gentleman behind the counter has been VERY friendly, he evens knows me by my first name. If you go early enough they have half-priced subs and salads that taste amazing, it is a real steal. Besides deli foods they have a huge beverage section that includes wine and beer. The beer section has an excellent variety of quality brew which is hard to find in a store of this size. The layout and appearance of the store is top notch so dont expect long bouts of searching for what you need. Overall, I would go nowhere else to start my day than Pinkus McBride!

The store around the corner a bit more towards the capitol on E Mifflin and Hancock (I think its Market Basket) has a better selection and will actually care about you as a customer. I purchased something behind the counter at Pinkus and was given the wrong item by the clerk. When I tried to return it, I was told a tab was off (eve though the product was sealed) and they wouldnt take it back, give it store credit, or anything. I wont be shopping there anymore. At Market Basket they have a better beer selection and even a pad so you can request items you want. They will treat you better there.

Oh, Pinkus McBride. How I miss thee so. With your $7.50 bottles of Segura Viudas Reserva fueling many a romantic night, your $2.50 day-old turkey guacamole sandwiches soothing the morning after, and your always-jovial-never-judgmental staff, you were the perfect companion for a transportation-challenged young professional seeking a refuge of cornestibles on Madisons near-east side. PS - I hope that girl that complained about you not carrying the corn dogs in the purple box finally found what she was looking for at Wally World. You were too good for her, anyway.

I live nearby. Its not a full grocery store by any stretch of the imagination, but it definitely beats other convenience stores. Sure you can go there and get good beer and chips, but you can also pick up fresh produce items (bananas, apples, peppers, carrots, lettuce, and a lot more), fresh baked goods, or a delicious deli sandwich if you are in a hurry. Ive never had any of the clerks be rude to me - they always say "Hi" the second I walk into the store and are happy to answer questions.

Twice now I have lived very close to Pinkus,and Im always glad that my corner store is this one. Good selection of beer and food and stuff, and the clerks are always so lively and friendly that they cheer me up just by going in there. I would have given another star but some items are a bit overpriced.

The store is fine but more than once Ive come by a few minutes before closing and the door is already locked and Im ignored by whoever is inside. I dont plan on coming by at 10:55 but if you close at 11:00 and I just want to purchase one thing before I get home its very frustrating.

This place does have my favorite subs in the city. Its nice to have a local delicatessin that isnt another chain place. Along with subs, they also have snacks, sodas, chips, beer, grill accessories, or anything else you would need.

Really cute exterior, which was/is recently painted to keep it looking sharp. Perfect location for people who work near the Capitol and want a non fried lunch from a food truck. Great selection too!

Disappointing. Madisons liquor laws are restrictive, sure, but closing alcohol purchases clearly before the designated time (9pm) is ridiculous. Too bad the guy at the cash register was a jerk, too.

Convenient hours, decent selection of energy drinks, and a friendly cashier. Watch out for the intersection though, as this market is on a weird corner that confuses some drivers.

Not many of this type of neighborhood corner stores left. Pinkus has pretty much everything you would need from a corner store and the deli sandwiches are fantastic.
