Ive read a lot of positive things about voodoo monkey, so I decided to give them a try for my next tattoo. I emailed one of the owners and he was quite short with me and didnt really answer my questions. I dont like to base my opinion off of one person so I contacted another artist there, John. I emailed him in November, Ive been up to the shop, he said he would have my sketch ready multiple times; it is now February and I still dont even have a sketch. I called at least three times and was told that hed call me back and he hasnt. I happened to reach him once via phone because I called while he was there. I dont quite know what happened, but this is beyond sad! I expected a high level of customer service, or at least a response, especially from a place thats made the Cleveland hotlist. I cant speak on their art work because I never got the chance to get what I contacted them for. I will never go back to voodoo monkey and would not recommend that anyone go there either, if they asked me. It was a major waste of time. Im a little confused about how they made the hotlist, especially if they treat customers the way they did me. I guess thatll just be an enigma...

Not at all professional, courteous and caring. I went in for as a walk in. I was told at 2:30 that they could get me in at 3:30 and to come back at 4 (no guns in the shop running). I came back at 4:00. I was told at 4 it was going to be another hour (still no guns running and no art being worked on by the artist going to give me my tattoo). I was asked then if I had a design. "Yup, have something really simple. Here it is". So, I wait until 5. Then Im told at 5 another hour. (No guns running). Now its 6. I politely go up to the front and ask if its going to be much longer or if we should just plan on another time and I can make an appointment. The girl rolls her eyes at me and the guy in the first booth looks at me (his gun is finally running (after 3 hours and doing nothing during that time (yes, I watched) and says rudely, "you wouldnt want me to rush through yours would ya. Ill get to you when I get to you!". She says (after the eye roll), "why dont you just sit back down and be patient and Ill call you when its your turn". Pretentious. Rude. Terrible customer service

I got a tattoo on the inside of my bottom lip in Atlanta. It was 6 characters long and cost me $40. I then went to get an upper lip tattoo (one character) at Voodoo Monkey, where I was charged $85, not including tip. The tattoo I got in Atlanta has lasted over a year with minimal fading (as is expected with any inner lip tattoo), whereas the one I got at Cleveland faded almost immediately. I am very disappointed and I wish there was a better place in Cleveland to get a tattoo. Unfortunately, I will have to wait to go out of town for any body work. I will note that I honestly dont know if an upper lip tattoo is more prone to fading than a bottom lip tattoo, so if anyone has any knowledge about that Id be willing to reconsider my evaluation.

I highly recommend going to Voodoo Monkey for a tattoo! I got my very first tattoo from Dave (part owner) and he is amazing. I absolutely love my tattoo! He is so down to earth and made me feel so comfortable! Very nice guy! The shop is really clean and has a very artistic vibe and decor. I have found a lot of tattoo shops can be intimidating by the decor, music and vibe but not here. This shop will make anyone feel comfortable! P.s. I was going to try to get my tattoo done by Lauren (because she is also incredible) but she was booked two months out. I would recommend her or Dave just by my interactions and looking at their work, but honestly everyone there is fantastic at what they do. Check it out!

I was so excited to collaborate with one of the artists here. I was a little put off when my initial consultation only took 5 minutes and she seemed fairly disinterested in my design, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I paid my $40 deposit and waited for her to send me some ideas via email. After waiting a few weeks, I sent an email asking how the design was coming. She told me she had "a lot on her plate right now." A few weeks later, I finally asked to work with another artist or get my deposit back. She told me shed have my $40 waiting in an envelope at the shop. Maybe I just dont understand how this process works, but it was a really disappointing experience for me.

I got a tattoo recently (more than 6 months). It has faded (yes I know they fade over time). The lines have blended together. However, the worst part is, it itches (not itching because its healing- burning/itching). I have to be seen by my doctor. Im freaked out. Not only was the line work jittery, it fades (most likely he did not go as deep as he needed to). And its itching (and no, not the normal time it takes to heal and scab).... Uhh, you do the math on that one

Best tattoo shop in Cleveland! Very clean, professional and priced fairly. You wont see a bunch of cheap flash designs in their lobby. This isnt a "pick it and stick it" shop. These guys/gals are ARTISTS. Ive gotten 4 great pieces from Eric Kaplan, each time Ive just taken him an idea of what I wanted and he knocked it out of the park. Looking forward to my next piece of art! Thank you Voodoo Monkey and Eric!

Voodoo Charlie is a fantastic artist. This is my second tattoo done by him. He did both of them at AAD conventions. I love that he can ink anything I want just by my telling him what I want. He is great at free hand art. Wished I lived close to his shop so he could do my next one. If you are in his area even his state give him a call. He is awesome. Mouse

Seeing as how this was my first tattoo, I was very anxious and nervous. All my prejudgments of tattoo parlor of being intimidating and uncomfortable were taken away the moment I saw Voodoo Monkey.John did an amazing job of calming my nerves and did an even more amazing job on my tattoo! I will be back and I highly recommend it.

Decided to get a tattoo with my sister for my birthday. The tattoo came out really good and it was such an easy experience. The girl who did our tattoo was very nice. The place was very clean. If I come back to Cleveland and decided to get another tattoo I would defiantly come back here.

Got my first tattoo from Sean at Voodoo Monkey today. The tattoo though relatively simple came out to be next to perfect. I think its a little overpriced but it works - I would rather spend a little more for something thats gonna be on me forever and for that exceptional service.
