This was the worst experience I have ever had food shopping. I just recently moved to the NA Kearny area and was undecided on where i would do my food shopping as there are a few food shopping places around. I spoke to my new neighbors about the food town down the block from us and they said they would only stop to get an onion or produce nothing more because the place is a rip off. I figured I would give them a shot. WELL .... never again!!! I will travel to stop and shop or down the hill the shoprite rather then spend a dime in this trash hole. I walked in to find they have a great special on meat. 5 for $20. So i rumaged thru the mess of meat they had and saw no chopmeat. Someone standing next to me then told me that the old man in the dress shirt was the store manager, so i asked him politely if he could sell me a pound of chop meat and he snapped back at me WE CANT DO IT! before i even finished my question. So then i kind of stepped to the side to give him some room as he looked like he was about to flip on me and i approached him one last time telling him that i was purchasing the 5 for 20 and the supposed chop meat they had was no longer out there and before i could ask him he started shaking his head and then screamed I SAIDDDD WE ARENT DOING IT, THATS IT!. Now i am no store manager but i do have common sense and manners and that is no way to speak to someone you dont know. Especially a customer. I put the meat down and everything else i had and walked out. He is very lucky my husband was in the car. But he now knows about what happened and so do the entire meat and produce section customers as they heard him yell at me. i give this place a year or so and it will be closed. He is way over priced with zero selection- and a shi**y attitude. Doesnt make well for business!

The cashier that help me today was very nasty to me first of all she didnt even sayv hello to me . Then I ask her if I can borrow the pen two times and she didnt even pay mind to me. Not only that she was looking at me like I was talking another language . She was racist because she knew I was hispanic when I was talking to her I was talking in english. This is not the first time that a cashier is mean to me in this foodtown they did it to my daugther and to my son in law. What they have something against hispanic people. Then when I finishing paying my stuff I notice that she was nice to the customer that was in back of me she was saying hello how you doing today .

Its a grocery store. Its smaller than shop rite, but not nearly as hectic. You can find what you need here for anything standard. There are typically an adequate amount of registers open per the amount of customers so theres not a often a wait in my experience. It also closes pretty late, which is nice.

I am using Food town more and more for fresh fruits and vegetables . How ever the store needs more Gluten-free products, and to organize the store in an efficient manor for some frozen foods as some is on the othere side.

Higher prices on most items, compared to Stop & Shop. The employees up to Management all look miserable. I said "hello" to the cashier and youd think I had 5 heads with how she looked back at me.
