DO NOT BUY FROM THIS JEWELER! Their customer service is absolutely atrocious. I purchased my ring from them in mid December and was promised an appraisal shortly thereafter. About 4 weeks after I bought the ring, I had a stone fall out (wierd!) and again requested the insurance appraisal I was promised when I bought the ring. They informed me that they were working on it, but that I could simply give my insurance agent my bill of sale for the time being. This is not accurate, as my insurance agent explained, because they need the replacement cost of the ring, not how much you paid for it. They need to know exactly what they would need to pay should something happen to the ring and they have to pay to replace it. I placed another call in late January to request the appraisal and was told he was working on it. Never heard a word. Called back early February, and was told by Kevin, the owner, that he would have it for me that day. Another week goes by and I still dont have it, and my ring is still uninsured and has been for 2 months. I call Kevin again, and he is as rude as I have ever been talked to in all of my life. He called me "lady", yelled, and even kept reminding me that this was a free service... No, Kevin, its not free, I had to buy a ring that cost thousands of dollars to get that service...and even then, I never got it. (Mind you, my fiance and I have bought 2 rings from them and this is how we were treated.) These people are unprofessional and have no follow through whatsoever. When you are making a purchase as big as this, you need to take your business to a jeweler who will show you respect and deliver on what they say they will do. An insurance appraisal is a basic courtesy afforded to customers by nearly any jeweler you buy from...except this one. They have no appreciation for their customer once the ring is bought and purchased. They must have forgotten that I still have a wedding band and a mens wedding ring to buy. They will not be getting any repeat business for me.

Am writing to respond to negative reviews: 1) The 2 reviews in regard to platinum ring are by the same person(s). 2) We communicated our mistaken identity on the estate piece of the "PL" stamp and implemented new procedures to ensure that would not happen again. Our head jeweler is to determine metal specs. 3) Not only did we fully refund the customer with a check, they executed a chargeback thereby eliminating our payment for sizing the ring and conditioning after it was returned, worn to an event for the weekend as stated by customer. 4) We highly recommend Adorn jewelry rental service as we do not offer this service. Its an online jewelry rental service with great people! 5) We informed CZ customer before doing work of the risks of working with CZs and were given the "ok" to proceed. 6) Up to 5 different CZs were shipped in at our expense with none being chosen. 7) We contacted original manufacturer to request a closer CZ match and they told us they could not guaranty it and it would be at our own risk. 8) We have communicated that we would be more than happy to pay 1/2 the bill to let manufacturer replace the CZ and work directly with customer as per customers own desire. 9) To my knowledge, after extensive communication and agreement, customer has not picked up this ring from our store. My experience was heartbreaking and gutwrenching. I was told that a ring was platinum and from the 50-60s. While my receipt states it is platinum, when I took it to a well respected jeweler, I was told it was not and the appraisal was less than 1/2 of what I paid at Polished Edge. They have been very difficult to work with, not returning calls when they said they would and even though we have in writing what they sold me was platinum it is not the ring they represented. Then they wrongly accused me of wearing the ring to an event. I suppose that is accurate, as we immediately left KC after the purchase to drive home to St. Louis in a nasty storm. I was in KC for a Friday night event, we stayed in town Saturday just to buy the ring. I never wore this ring to any event. Ever.I took the ring to our jeweler a few days later for insurance purposes and began trying to return it when told it was only gold. We returned the item and though they said a check would be in the mail, weeks later - we have no refund. I would have been happy to keep the ring, if what was sold to me was what they put in writing. I would have been nice it they had been more responsive to our concerns. I would never do business with them or recommend them to a friend.

Brought a ring in to be resized in Nov. 2009. They said it would be an easy resizing -- they ended up chipping the CZ stone. Now 6 MONTHS LATER we still do not have the ring back and they are claiming they cannot find a matching stone. We have found the matching stone - at the place that made the original, The polished edge refuses to return phone calls now and when face to face they avoid any direction that might be promising but rather alude to the fact there may not be anything they can do. They do promise us a really good deal on anything else in the store... why would I buy something else from them - I am sure they would not stand behind that work either... Very, very disappointed.

I am not sure about all of these harsh reviews. I have worked in customer service for many years and I felt very pleased with the way we were treated at the polished edge down by power and light. I will be getting married in October of this year and until today haven’t been able to find a wedding ring up to my fiancés liking. We both felt very welcomed and had great service the entire time. We found exactly what he had been looking for and I plan on coming back this week to get my wedding band custom made. They had a great variety and many of the items were very original. I think we both found a place we can go to get anniversary gifts in the future!

I have had both repair work done at The Polished Edge and have purchased new, custom pieces from the Liberty store. Kevin, the owner, is very professional, friendly and does amazing work. Ive had nothing but the best experiences each time I enter his shop, whether its to have a watch battery changed, to have something new created for me, or to purchase something wonderful in his store. My husband and I highly recommend Kevin, his staff and both of his stores if youre shopping for unique jewelry for yourself or as a gift!

Your merchandise selection is not what I was thinking, You have some wonderful different items, The store was merchandised nicely. The staff was very friendly and helpful, you are very lucky to have such a professional team. If I didnt see it, they would inquire of my needs, And yes I purchased, and they promised it to be completed, actually they notified me 2 days prior. I would totally recommend your store to my friends. You have such a lovely location in Downtown Kansas City. Keep it UP!!!
