This plain, big box book store has enough going for it to give it positive review. Good: Volume--it is a large store and maximizes its space well to pack in a lot of wordy merchandise. It is clean, neat, and well organized. And, of course, a coffee shop is built right in. Bad: Plain Jane--its a boring place... feels like a library. Yeah, I know... its a bunch of books and it should feel like a library. But there are many other competitors, both chains and local joints, that provide a cozy atmosphere that is lacking at that B-A-M. This place is full of nothing but 90 degree angles and drab colors. While I am glad they have a coffee shop, it is awkwardly crammed in a space by the front door that I suspect could be drafty in the winter. Looking for something specific? Stop here... good chance of finding it. Want to browse and soak in a little book store ambiance? This is not the place.

Something Nice
They never have books that are new released and when you call to ask if the book in there they always tell you that you have to order it and have it sent to their store for you to pick up and that takes forever! They lied to me and schemed me out of my money to join their ridiculous free magazine subscription program! They told me it was free and it was not! I got a few magazines in the mail then was later told I would be charged I called them to cancel the subscription for good! Books a Million is a rip off book company! The only thing I like is the customer service

I love this store. I used to be a Barnes and Noble fanatic, until I found here. They have an expansive range of books to suit every interest, as well as gifts for the book/pop culture loved in your family. What blew me away was their selection of anime figures. I cant find anywhere in town that has ones I am interested in except for here. The little cafe is good as well. Reasonably priced for good eats. Would reccommend a thousand times over. I usually drop in once or twice a month

Stopped by for coffee and to do a little work on the computer. The sign on the window says "Free WiFi Hotspot". I go to log on and am given 2 choices; pay-as-you-go or be a member of some kind of club. So I ask the idiot at the bar - how much to be a member? Answer - $25. So I ask the obvious question "How is that "free"? She says "It IS free if you buy the membership". I can only assume that every other transaction in this place will be just as dishonest.

As far as Books-A-Million in Louisville goes, I can always find publications and books at this one that I cannot find at other locations, or other bookstores for that matter. Whenever I am in the area and needing to kill some time before a meeting this is where I go. It also is near other great shops and restaurants.

I would have given them 5 stars except they no longer order books and have them at the store. Which in the long term will do to them what had been done to other bookstores, which is render them obsolete. Other than that, they have an incredible staff, very knowledgeable very friendly.

Sales person was to pushy about there rewards program did not want to accept a no answer from the 2 people in front of me and then when I went to pay I said no thanks before he even started and again same thing. I know they have to ask but.....

The guy behind the counter with the half pony-tail was really persistant in trying to sell me a membership renewal and confusing with explanation s of how it would "save money" etc. Too much pressure. Not coming back.

Very good environment. I enjoyed the atmosphere and there was a very wide selection of books to choose from. I could havw spent hours in there! Customer service was very helpful and I definitely will go back.
