The staff tries hard and does the best with what they have to work with. The store is too small and the stock room is tiny, so it is hard to keep enough things in stock, like all the candy the trash people buy with food stamps. People come in at lunch rush or closing time and complain about the line while they cant operate their bank card or food stamps and cancel the transactions over and over while blaming the staff, or you get ten little old ladies that just have to write a check and then complain when asked for drivers license or phone numbers. The staff works hard to keep the store clean and items neatly placed on shelves while the sub human filth that live in Dawson Springs pick things up and then throw them on the floor when they decide they dont want them or more likely cant figure out what they have picked up, or fill a buggy up with random stuff then hold the line up for 20 minutes having each item hand scanned to see if "It a dolla?" There are a few wonderful customers in town, but for the most part the customers are worthless white trash that spit on the floor, and are just filthy to the point you have to use a bottle of hand sanitize after taking their soggy bills. You greet them and they grunt at you, then refuse their receipts, then are angry when they cant return the microwave popcorn they bought because "I aint got no microthang!"

The Dawson Springs ky Dollar general store is a poor store it needs to have new management I go in there several times a week and every time the manager is always setting in her car by the front door with either the music up loud or on her phone. Today on 7-18-17 @ 5:15 pm the lady working the register paged the manager several times to do a refund she finally had to go to the door and motion for the manager to come in to do 3 returns by this time there were probably 10 customers in line waiting to check out after the manager did the returns she went back to her car to get on her phone instead of helping to get the customers checked out.

This store is number one in several areas. Number one in understaffed establishments. Number one in disorganization. Number one in unprofessionalism. I usually feel very sorry for the lone cashier checking out a line of more than 10 customers. The machines are GROSSLY outdated and the whole building really just needs a makeover. I usually drive out of the way to a different town, but the South Main location in Madisonville isnt much better.

Filthily NEVER EVER has good stock what they do have is disorganized you cant get a cart down the isle because of clutter on YES I SAID ON THE FLOOR sad thing is that it is not only trash its MOSTLY MERCHANDISE

Out of stock repeatedly, aisles crowded and unorganized, the ceiling and light fixtures are falling down by the toilet paper aisle. Staff seems miserable and scarce.
