This place is RACIST! Dont go there unless youre Korean and can speak Korean. Theyll speak Korean to you and once they realize youre not Korean or dont speak Korean, they dismiss you to the side to serve a Korean customer. I take pictures of the products I want to buy for my "Asian Grocery Pantry List" bcuz its easier than writing everything down - price, size, brand, what it is, because a lot of the packaging are in different Asian languages and I dont know what is what. So if I needed help finding something, I can just show the staff a picture and they can guide me to it. Yesterday I was pulled aside and told not to take pictures because they have a "no photo" policy. Weird, but okay. I typed the info down then an hour before closing, 2 other male staff came to question me about what I was doing. "What are you doing? Cuz youve been here for 5 hours." They tried to play it down as if they were trying to "assist" me find something, but obviously they singled me out to keep an eye on me during a crowded weekend shopping day. I asked the two men for their names and they refused to give it to me. They dont wear name tags there so I couldnt report them. Went to customer service and spoke with someone named Pa, but he was quick to dismiss me and blew me off. The conversation ended with him not caring to see who the employees were that said the rude comments to me, that he couldnt / wouldnt help me nor hear me out, acknowledging that they didnt want my business and to go to MegaMart. Only to rush to assist the Korean customer behind me. Today I called to see if I could reach the manager and ended up with the same representative again, only to find out Pa is the manager of the store. He did call me back and apologize, only to dismiss me and interrupt me 5x while Im trying to be heard. To say this place is racist normally would be an extreme generalization for me, but after the numerous times Ive been shafted as a patron and witnessed how other non-Korean patrons were treated aside from hearing numerous horror stories from friends, I can honestly voice my opinion that H-Mart only focuses on their Korean patrons and does not treat all equally at all. My family will never spend another penny there despite the thousands of dollars weve spent there over the years. They treat me so well when they think Im Korean but when they find out Im not, their smiles disappear, theyre condescending and harass you for being at their store too long only to dismiss you and cast you aside if you voice your issue.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If there was a way to give this Super H Mart ZERO STARS I would! My family and I normally really enjoy H Marts and weve been to this location quite a few times. In fact, we drive 5 hours to go to this location whenever we go. But this most recent experience was completely insulting with little regard to customer courtesy. We bought a brand new (still in the box) rice cooker this past Monday as a gift for a family member. Our family member said the size was too big, so they didnt need it. We didnt even take it out of the box. We tried to return it 5 days later and the employee that helped us had to open it and check the item (which on its own is fine). Then she said she had to take it to a manager to get it double checked. We waited a few minutes. Then she brought it back and said she couldnt give us a refund because it had been used!! Unbelievable! We didnt even take it out of the box! She said since her manager was at lunch we just had to wait if we had any issues. They just had us stand there and wait for about 10 minutes before someone finally came (shouldnt customers come first?). While we waited we tried to talk to a different employee about the issue and she just said that it was H Marts policy that customers carefully check all items before purchasing and that they were not responsible. Are you kidding me? If a customer selects something from a BRAND NEW BOX why would we assume something is wrong with the merchandise?? The manager finally arrived and said they had to check items when giving refunds because a lot of people use it and try to return it. Which is fine, understandable. But he thoroughly inspected every single thing, even under the light, and said there was a slight scratch so it was used and couldnt be returned. WE DIDNT EVEN TAKE IT OUT OF THE BOX. After arguing, they finally agreed to give us a refund but only after continuously being rude and saying they couldnt "believe what customers say". Horrible customer service, especially for such a large company.

You need to mitigate your customer service! I tried to sign up for a membership and the older Korean lady at the customer service desk kept chitchatting on the phone! She never gave me eye contact and pretended I wasnt there until she was finished with her phone call. I can tell it was a personal non-business related call from her intonation and incessant laughing but she should have at least acknowledged my presence or told me to wait a minute. She didnt even gesture anything to me! She continued laughing and talking for 2-3 minutes before telling me to fill out one of the forms that was behind me. She should have told me that in the first place it would have only taken 2 seconds!!! I have worked various customer service jobs where I had to cashier and take phone calls at the same time. If I were her supervisor I would have her written up or fired! Please check her attitude! This isnt the first time Ive had issues here either. About a year ago I tried to return some bread when I discovered there was mold on it. I had just bought that bread a few minutes prior and when I tried to return it there was an older Korean guy who berated me for returning it! THERE WAS MOLD ON THERE!!! He continued screaming at me then angrily threw the bread in the garbage as hard as he could! There is just no excuse! Watch out for hidden expired "gems" at this store. Youll know because itll be highly discounted.

Everyone should check their groceries before purchasing. Most of the time the fruits are spoiled especially the strawberries. I have seen expired products on shelves (some dated 2013). The customer service from the checkout clerks are good but the at the customer service station, its pretty horrible. Especially the elder gentlemen. Very rude and not pleasant to work with. I saw an incident where a lady with a baby was standing behind a customer who was finishing up her transaction and some lady comes from the side and starts throwing her groceries on the counter as if it was a checkout aisle. The CS seemed to ignore the lady with a baby and begin checking out. As the lady approached him with a receipt he appeared to tell her that hell do it after he checks out the other lady. The lady with the baby just left and didnt seem happy. Seems like they need to replace some employees. I recommend going to Sprout as they are opened up nearby. Produce and everything is fresher and not expensive as Wholefoods.
