This review is for the pharmacy only. We live in the coop and would like to support local businesses but our experience with the pharmacy was unacceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for compassionate, timely customer service to go elsewhere. I called the pharmacy looking to transfer some prescriptions from another pharmacy. I was told on the phone to come in to the pharmacy because they did not want to take down my information via phone. I went down to the pharmacy with my prescriptions and was told it would take 15 minutes for them to take down my information. I returned 15 minutes later, and they hadnt recorded my information. I waited for another 15 minutes and was told they had my information and I needed to come back two days later for more information on the transfer. I came back two days later, and the pharmacist had not called in the transfer. The pharmacist later called me and said they would not call in the transfer because the prescription had been filled. I tried to explain that they needed to transfer the prescription over from the other pharmacy, but at that point I decided to take my business elsewhere. Throughout the process, I felt that the pharmacy was not interested in obtaining our business and was not sympathetic to the fact we just wanted our prescriptions transferred and filled. Considering the numerous great options in the area, go elsewhere.

Im extremely disappointed by the Greenbelt Co-op Supermarket. We live in the old Greenbelt, so its very convenient to shop there and we have been going every single week for a few years now. The staff has always been neutral or unfriendly. At first, I thought it was because we were new there, and we liked the convenience, but it has become clear now that they are just that. Unfriendly. So I dont know if its because they dont like younger people (because I see interactions with other older customers and I see them being friendly to them) or if you just have to be a good customer for more than 3 years, but Im just done. Today I watched in total disbelief 6 members of the staff (6! I counted them!) look at me, one of them even said hi, while I was waiting to be served at the deli. Not one of them offered help. Not one. Out of the 6. Unbelievable. And its not the first time either. The convenience of the location is just not worth the higher prices, limited choices and unfriendliness of the staff. Im not surprised that they are having trouble keeping a customer base when I see how I was treated. I will not be going back.

I am so grateful to have a wonderful food store like the co-op in the center of our town. The staff is open to suggestions for new items to carry, and that may in part account for the interesting variety that is stocked. I can count on finding staples and also products that would be carried in a specialty or organic food store, all at very reasonable prices. When relatives come to visit they love the store and always comment on the quality and great prices in the meat department and the wine section. The staff is friendly and always willing to be helpful. I cannot think of a better store for all around shopping. It is big enough to have everything you need, lots of healthy food options, and you dont have to walk miles inside the store to find it. I know that Greenbelt treasures this store because it is owned by the community. I am sorry I waited 26 years to write this appreciation!

I love my Co-op because of the people. Recently I observed a neighbor who is disabled and slow in getting her words and thoughts together. I have known her for a long time and so impressed that the staff treated her as if there was no disability - Respect. I do like the way the store is set out. It seems you can carry a lot for a small store. As a limited walker this is very appreciated. Many times I have found things I needed that I couldnt in the larger box stores. In the past I have found produce that was not worth the purchase but it has improved. The pharmacy staff have always gone beyond my previous experience of other stores. The will take the time to explain or present options that helps in my care. They always extend themselves to help their customers and I have seen this over the years as I wait for my medication. I really love my Co-op!

I would choose the Coop over a Giant or Safeway any day. Its clean, well laid-out, and the selection gets better and better. They have an increasingly large selection of organic, vegetarian, and natural items and the staff is knowledgeable and mostly friendly (there are one or two who are less so). Its amazing what they fit into their space, which is nice because I hate having to tromp a quarter mile across the Safeway. Im lucky to live near it! For more unusual products, I also go to MOMs Organic Market in College Park, but the Coop meets nearly all of my needs. They also have wine tastings, and the Wed 5% off member appreciation day can save a lot of money over the year. Nice to get the money back every year, too, as a member.

My grocery shopping is split between three supermarket: one near home, and then this is one of two near work... of the three, this is undoubtedly my preferred given its local business orientation. Ive had great luck with their fruits in the middle non-refrigerated bins (bananas, tomatoes, clementines, etc.) but less-so with the refrigerated food. Ive had particular difficulties with finding good packs of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries during those seasons. The Co-Op does stock Turkey Hill Tea & Honest Tea -- two particular loves of mine; and the hot food is convenient & tasty. Prices are generally comparable or lower than mainstream supermarkets.

WHEN YOU GET IN THIS SUPERMARKET. THE STAFF - OLDER WHITES look at you like you will steal or have stolen something. They really dont cater for the black class of the community. I feel this is strategically for whites. While I spend most of my shopping dollars at this supermarket I never feel welcome but it it closer to home and convenient. I think they should train staff to welcome every class of the community. ALL in all their produce are great along with prices.

The prices COULD be better-- but it is a CO-OP and may not get as many discounts as larger franchise retails. I go a few times a week for staples and sometimes meat/poultry. The employees are more mature-- but I prefer that than a bunch of teenagers at SAFEWAY. It is also very diverse! Im not sure who felt unwelcome, I dont go to a supermarket for hugs. The staff is always friendly-- some more than others but people are people! Great place! And convenient!

Coop could not be more diverse! The registers are right inside the door so of course when you come in the employees are going to look over. So tired of the race card being played. Coop does cater to all people! They have employees of all different races. Dont drag the name of a fine store through the mud just becuase you are prejudice against whites! The staff is always friendly to all classes of the community!
