Today I went to a rare trip into the loop location. Im a club member at the Lake View location and normally go to that location but sometimes when I need to get a new book that I didnt have on my pull box I will run in and grab it on my way to work. I picked up a couple of books and took them to the register. I let the woman at the register know that I was a club member at the Lake View store. She said that the discount only applied to the store in Lake View. This sounded weird to me seeing as how every other store with a discount club honers that discount at all its locations. So I started to say this to her and she immediately cut me off with a quick thank you for shopping and turn away from me. Effectively dismissing me. I have been coming to Graham Crackers for a pretty long time and this particular store since the late 1990s before it became a Graham Crackers. This is the first time I have ever felt unwelcome in a Graham Crackers location. I have recently grabbed a few back issue comics online from Mile High Comics and Midtown Comics. I plan to still get things from Graham Crackers when I need too ,but these other shops will certainly be seeing more of my businesses in the future.

Ive been going to Graham Cracker for a long time - it is where I first started my collection. Its usually a decent experience - i find what I am looking for most of the time. The employees are to-themselves, which is fine with me, I usually dont like someone constantly peeping over my shoulder asking me how I am, etc. However, whenever I ask them a question as to where an item is, they seem annoyed or upset. Its like I bothered them. It has happened more than a few times to the point where I no longer want to go there for anything. Id much rather support the smaller shops by me. It is their job to help out the customer and it comes off like they dont want to. Plus, their prices are pretty high. Most of the smaller shops I go to now have things marked down and have a good selection of sale items regularly. Graham Cracker was good when I needed it, but I dont plan to go anymore. If you have to ask an employee something, have fun and prepare for some condescending looks.

So Im a comic junky. Ive got a local shop that I go to but when I know Im not going to make it there day of releases this is the ONLY comic shop in the loop to go to. (It helps that its about a 10 minute walk from my office.) Which is fine, because with a super geeky and knowledgeable staff and everything youd want on your pull list they have you covered! The only problem is since its not my regular shop anytime I go in here what should take me 5-10 minutes to pickup comics can turn into an hour long affair. ...Seriously if you have a spending problem you are going to want to avoid this specific Graham Crackers like the plague because you are going to want to spend and spend big! Totally reminds me of one of the two comic shops I went two religiously back in the 80s too which probably helps my love for the place.

I have a subscription box at this shop. The staff always remember me and they have an incredible selection of new comics. They changed their layout recently and it flows so much better than before. The back issue selection isnt as robust as some other stores but this is an excellent store to find trade paperbacks. They also have a great selection of indie trades as well. I wouldnt go here for gaming or magic cards. Some basic baking supplies but mainly just comics and merch.

The store is filled with all things comic people love. Back issues that are easy to access, shelves of tpbs, a wall of new comics from Marvel to DC to all independents, t-shirts, action figures, and cool, knowledgeable people who take the time to help you find that lost issue from ten years ago. Great people, great place. Every time i visit Chicago i stop in and im never disappointed. A comic shop the way it is supposed to be.

A very good comic store. This isnt the main store, just the downtown shop so the back issue collection isnt massive, but it is adequate. Plenty of new books on the shelves from all publishers. Lots of graphic novels and other comic peripheral merchandise. Plus they have .50¢ & $1.00 books, aint nothing wrong with that. The staff is amazingly friendly, polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. Really a top notch downtown comic shop.

Ive been into Graham Crackers Comics several times, and I dont think Ive ever bought a thing. (There with friends picking stuff up, maybe grabbing an Onion, not just loitering). That said, staff has always been friendly, always willing to answer questions on upcoming releases. Store kind of has that old-comic shop vibe to it (i.e. a bit dark and traditional), but that may be good, depending on what type of comic fan you are.

I adored this store! I am rather new to comic books, and had no idea on what I wanted exactly. I just said: "I like Thor and Loki and Batman and stuff..." and one of the guys happily bobbed over to me and assisted! I loved the fact that he knew what I would like, even without knowing more than two minutes of information. Better yet, I LOVED the ones he helped me pick out!

I expected far better in Chicago. I definitely will appreciate my local comic shop more. I mean, this is an ok comic store for new comics, but the staff was not friendly in any way and their prices on any back stock is way out of line on most things, especially for a collector - most back stock was fine condition at best but they want VF/NM price on all of it. Meh.

Its a nice store and has a decent collection of comics. I live across the street from here and am a Magic player. I just wish they offered Friday Night Magic or simply fostered more of a gaming culture. I have to travel over 2 miles to find a place to game. Ill walk over here to buy a pack of a new set and the staff are always attentive when approached.

I love this place. The staff are friendly and all know their comics and theyll order any back issues or trade paperbacks they might not have in stock (which is pretty rare) and call you when they arrive. They clearly get enough female customers (and have a few on staff!) so there isnt a weird vibe when Im there. The location is hard to beat too!

This spot is a nerd-gasm. Just straight wow. Anything and everything to get your fix on comics, action figures, and a nostalgic tunnel-o-nerd. Take a minute on your way to the bean and stop by here if you want to just be fascinated by the epic collection. I would talk about specifics but you have to walk into it to see for yourself.

They had a wonderful selection and I really liked the place. The only thing that has been a huge let down is that every time Ive gone Im always treated so horribly. Its like the stereotypical view that girls cant like comics and such. Like every time Ive gone in the looks I get make me want to quickly leave right away.
