I’m not sure why others here have rated City Cycle with such low reviews, but chances are they walked into the shop with an attitude and arrogance. City Cycle not only has the best presentation of bicycles and accessories, but their staff is by far the most helpful and knowledgeable. There are bicycles and parts neatly organized all over the shop, from behind the diamond plate display case, to the ceiling rafters. The City Cycle building stands alone unlike most every other bicycle shop in Jacksonville which is usually tucked away in a strip mall somewhere. Located in historic Riverside, World Famous City Cycle is nestled in one of the area’s best cycling districts; minutes from the scenic St. Johns River and only a short drive from the Baldwin Trail. As for the shop itself, the prices are not only competitive, but the customers service both during and after a purchase is by far superior to any other cycling shop I have been to in the city. City Cycle is meant for the serious cycling customer. That’s not to say they won’t help you fix a bicycle you purchased from somewhere else, but the merchandise at City Cycle is considered higher in quality to most places. Let’s be real, this isn’t Target or Walmart, this is a local cycle shop for the serious athlete and recreational cyclist who likes quality products. If you’re serious about bicycles, if you like good service at a reputable place, then City Cycle is for you. If you’re a self-righteous snob who makes demands as soon as you walk into a store, then chances are you won’t get any respect from the people you have just insulted. Everyone’s personal experience is different, but there is no reason for City Cycle to get a bad review in my opinion.

Great Shop. I am having my road bike built there as I write this. The employees were very knowledgeable and friendly; very accommodating and patient with my questions. The owner was busy at the time I walked in, but he seems to operate behind the scenes, making sure the shop is on task while letting his employees take care of the majority of customers. The owner answered all technical questions asked by his employees promptly, while playing a major role in offering me an amazing price on my component swap/bike build. Before committing to their service, I called a couple of other reputable bike shops in town, and no one would come close to City Cycles pricing. One shop went as far as to tell me that I would be out of luck trying to find a better deal than what City Cycles was offering. Will post an update review after services are rendered.... Thanks for reading. Update: Picked up my road bike yesterday. Loved it! Staff was courteous as always. Went back in today and purchased some shorts and two jerseys. They had a sale on the Jerseys, buy one get one free, and their shorts were a great deal. I actually paid less for my shorts through City Cycle than I would if I had bought them on-line ( about a $3-4 savings plus I didnt have to wait a week to get them :P ) Overall good experience, this is definitely my go to LBS for now.

Worst store I have ever been to. Went in to buy a rack for the back of my cruiser bike. No, Im not an avid, high-end bike rider like those silly people wearing all spandex and riding their $5000 bikes down the middle of the road like a car but refusing to abide by stop signs and lights and/or move out of the way when a car wants to pass. Anywho, went in to get his rack, the saleswoman was fairly helpful but then she disappeared when I went to check out. The guy behind the counter (who I found out was the owner) was just chatting with a man he obviously knew and who was not buying anything or looking to buy anything at the time. I waited with wallet and rack in hand in front of the register for 15 minutes as the two went on about places they had ridden and other bs. Worst customer service I had ever had. When he finally acknowledged me he was rude and acted as though I was a bother. Called them just today about a part I was looking for (an obvious low-end comfort bike part and very common) and before I even finished asking I got as simple "nope" and then silence. Didnt know if they were out of stock, could order it and anthing, just silence. This was the owner again. Terrible service along with ridiculously marked-up prices. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!

Went one time and noticed some negative vibe feeling as an intruder. Left shop and went back about a month later, walk in and silence as if I am in some special club, hear some cross talk but cannot understand what they say. The prices are high compared to other stores and they do not give you bundle discounts like most bike shops do to make a sale. Owner has a arrogant "silly" face attitude, no need to project been there done that to new customers. I asked a few questions expecting a very well thought answer, but instead everything was yes or no, and do not know. Tried to play stupid to see if they would emphasize and be more pro-active toward customers, anyway I walked the small shop, here and there and left as if I was not even there. No see you later, have a nice day... (seems all they want is no ha$$le cu$tomers that will swipe the plastic at the first thing they see without testing or asking questions.) Very small shop, high price items, arrogant attitude from employees, ego-testicular comments and answers.

Heres a story: I was out riding my bike the other day when my chain suddenly came off. No problem, City Cycle was right down the street, figured Id pop in, exchange pleasantries, get them to tighten the tension on my chain and Id be on my merry. Well, as it turns out, things dont always go as planned. From the moment I stepped into the shop, I felt like I was out of place. A couple employees glance at me, dont greet me and it takes a few minutes from the time I walked in for someone to ask me if I need assistance. I explain my case to the guy who approached me, and he flat out tells me that itll be $15 and Id have to leave my bike with him for the rest of the day TO TIGHTEN THE TENSION ON MY CHAIN. I said no thanks, wiggled out of the store and headed down to Open Road in Avondale, Holt and company took care of me, didnt charge me, didnt keep my bike and I was in and out in 3 minutes. Do not shop at City Cycle, they are a bunch of arrogant fleecers.

City Cycle is medium sized, local bike shop in the heart of Jacksonvilles Riverside district. They easily have the biggest inventory of bikes /apparel /accessories youll ever see. Like most of the other reviews say, the discount prices are what keeps me coming back! If the prices seem higher than some other stores (i.e. department-type stores), its because they are selling REAL bicycles meant for lots of daily riding / commuting / fitness. The bikes Ive purchased here came with lifetime frame warranties and a full year on parts. Before getting my Cannondale road bike, I looked up all the companys MSRPs and was dumbfounded to discover what a deal i was getting on my "closeout bike", something the place always seems to have tons of!! Cant say enough good things about City Cycle, they really want to share their enthusiasm for the sport with Jax!
