A great option for lunch, or a coffee break (5/5 green stars) Even though there are a good number of places to eat in Mendocino, we ended up coming here twice (once for lunch and once for a coffee & pastry) – it’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to. Even when busy the staff members were friendly and welcoming. We collectively drooled over the new cookie that they’d brought out – a salted chocolate concoction that tasted as excellent as it looked. They make very good espressos, very good pastries, and also have some inventive savory items. Our Korean noodle salad was super-good. The veggie cake sounded better than it tasted but I think that was partly because I chose the wrong side (sour cream) and it ended up being a little bland – or it would be better if crisped up a bit before serving. Overall, it was a satisfying, healthy and affordable lunch ($5 for the noodle salad, $4.50 for the veggie cake and $3 for the cup of soup – kale and black eyed peas) made by people who cares about their ingredients. I’m also giving them 5/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact, based on these reasons: • Their coffee beans are from local roaster, Thanksgiving (all fair trade and organic). • They use Clover milk and also have alternatives such as soy, coconut and even oat or hemp. • Good selection of vegetarian and vegan items (now including occasional vegan pastries). (Thanks to Jessika L. for sussing out the hemp milk and vegan pastry situation.) • For baking, they use organic flours and seasonal fruits. • They also use free-range eggs. • Many ingredients such as beans, rice and tofu are organic. Much is locally sourced. • They encourage waste reduction. • They appear to treat their staff like family – appropriate for a place like Mencocino. • They provide an outlet for local artists (great selection of ceramics for sale). I love the vibe of the GoodLife cafe, the name says it all, the cafe is filled with so many yummy, healthy, organic, vegan, and even fair trade products. Anyhow, the GoodLife Cafe is a medium sized cafe with a funky and organic vibe to it, plenty of seating on the inside, all along the perimeter of the cafe, and along the windows too. In the room, I sat in, there was art "for sale" all along the walls, Im not sure if the art on the walls is actual paintings that were turned into photographs or if the art on the walls really are photographs. Either way, in my humble opinion, I thought it was a great accent to the cafe. The GoodLife Cafe & Bakery is medium sized with plenty of seating inside and a small outdoor patio on the side of the cafe. I didnt end up ordering any of their food or bakery items. But it looked like the Cafe served up both healthy breakfast and lunch items. I did order a cup of their hot organic apple cider, and it was delicious, it was a bit on the creamy side, not sure what caused the cider to be creamy, but it was perfect! I could have easily ordered another cup, but I was only at the cafe for a mere 30 minutes ... a quick writing session! I didnt take many pictures of the interior of the cafe, the day I went was overcast and on the rainy/sprinkling side. The cafe was really busy, I dont know if the cafe is always that busy, but it was also really cold that day. it was a mere 36 degrees at 2 pm. I wouldnt say the cafe, is cozy, the table and seats, for me, werent all that comfortable, but if youre not there to sit for long periods of time, then youll be just fine. While I dont know when Ill be returning to the GoodLife Cafe, the next time, Im in the village, I would like to order food off their menu. The GoodLife Cafe is located on one of the main roads in the Mendocino Village, steps away from Pattersons Pub and Harvest Market at Mendosas.

Was there over the weekend for a wedding (Jan 16), got the heads up that Pads was probably not the best option for a great little lunch. Was not disappointed, no sir, not at all in listening to advice to head to Goodlife. Partner and I, had an excellent cup of coffee, and the Mexican spicy...something? But who cares, because it was awesome! And, partner tried to steal it, and after a hard won bout of paper, rock, scissors spiced beverage never tasted so good after fighting and winning. We also had food. Could have stopped there, but the food was awesome also. the Mac and cheese was hearty, thick, and had a kinda creamy sauce to go with it. Yum! They also had a creamy poblano pepper corn soup that is almost exactly like the one that Campbells discontinued 15 years ago. If they got it, get it! Great place, fast service, even better food. Gave the strength to drink the rest of that day at tastings.

I had the Reuben panini with a cup of clam chowder. The Reuben was hot and cheese perfectly melted. The clam chowder was on the runny side (not a problem, just saying as I know there are multiple consistencies of chowder) but was enjoyable as well. They have this habernero sauce and jalapeno garlic sauce which were great additions to my meal! Great spot for some brunch or coffee. Oh! I should mention that they decorated the place with hand made mugs that are available for purchase. Go check them out!

This place was terrible. Stopped in to Mendocino on vacation and spent $25 to get 2 paninis, soup and a brownie. It was by far the most disappointed Ive been in a meal in years. The panini was flavorless, the soup was not at all like described, and the brownie was actually so bad I spit it out. Not every place can be a winner, but this particular place shouldnt even get a consolation prize. Avoid it.

Had the veggie panini and cup of soup for lunch on a weekend getaway. The panini was deliciously crispy and full of cheese and well cooked vegetables. The soup as well was great-- nice and creamy with great flavor. This would have been five stars, but my panini had a foreign object in it (a metal twist tie) that threw me for a loop. The food was still delicious and worth eating though :-)

Wonderful Cafe, with nice Patio seating. Add to that Mendocino weather and calm atmosphere, some amazingly yummy and healthy food options, and an eclectic vibe, and that defines this Cafe. Coffee - good. Lemonade - great. Vegie Cakes & Tofu Pumpkin Indian Curry - awesome! Loved this place. A perfect end to our 4 days in beautiful Mendocino.

Coffee and food were great. I love their cold brew. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. I wanted to buy one of their hats for sale and they checked under the counter, in the attic, and were about to pull the one of of display for me when they found one. Great place to sit and enjoy coffee and look out onto town

Great local place to meet up with a friend or sit with a laptop and get work done. I can figure that in the late afternoon when my first two choices of entrees to eat were sold out that it is probably a good place to eat; my third choice, the chicken enchiladas, were quite good. They also had a few vegan options.

Delicious food and baked goods. Best espresso drinks on the coast (they make their own chai too). Lovely staff. Busy place. Highlights: housemade herbed cream cheese for the bagels, ham and cheese rolls, paninis, never had a bad soup, chicken salad, rice and beans with fresh housemade salsa.
