Best Malai Kofta and Chicken Tikka Masala Ive had outside of Dallas - see Everest Indian and Himalayan Restaurant and Grill for something comparable… but different. Really, both dishes at Universal Market are among the best Ive ever had. For the uninitiated… Malai Kofta, at its most sublime, is not some bland yellow milk with fragile veggie-balls floating inside, but a spicy and robust to thick sauce of cream and, very often, cashew or almond supporting durable but tender dumplings of potato, pea, and carrot. Chef Luqmans version is great. The man has enlivened this traditionally north Indian dish with the less restrained flavors of Bangladesh and through shear force of mind… Chef Luqman has only been in McAllen for 3 months (from Bangladesh by way of Atlanta, GA), but the city should order him to stay. P.S. Service was a bit slow at 8:30 pm on a Monday.

The food was very good considering that it was a combination of Indian/Pakistani cuisine. Our waiter (and also chef) was so awesome and super friendly. I was hoping to see more meat selection like lamb Kebab or curry goat, but it seems like they were serving many vegetarian side dishes. I was disappointed with the buffet display since I couldnt reach the inside trays because the steam was fogging up the glassy sneeze guard. I guess it didnt help that the sneeze guard was too low to begin with. It was very difficult to get the food from the display as I was trying to avoid the excessive steam coming out of the warmer. The food was very tasty and fresh!

This is a 4.5 of 5..... I am here now and have had Indian foods all over the world.... the appetizers and dips ...the best ... my only issue.... remember my taste buds.... chicken korma moderate... lack a bit more cream base for me .... (Sammies in San Antonio or taste of India Richmond avenue and loop in Houston) otherwise server service pricing location Samosas...lassi drink and so on...... excellent.... how wonderful to have this business and restaurant in McAllen

I got sick the first time so i stuck to the grocery. I called to see If they had an item When i went The Guy at The front looked like he had no clue what i was talking about. He directed me to a random isle to get rid Of me so i started the search on my own. He kept peeking as though i was stealing. Some huy From the back showed up to my relief not sure he spoke English coz he pointed when i looked he fled. Nkt off to the other store hope They have better svc

Food was excellent. Not too many choices for desi food in the area, so decided to try it. HUGE portions. I ordered the mix grill which was very delicious. The service is more... home style... rather than professional waiters, however, the tasty food makes up for it. Mango lassi was good too. Ambience is eh. Service is so-so, dining hall is small, but if you can ignore those aspects, you should visit, as the food is delicious.

The food is good but on the spicy side and one needs to tell the server about it if one needs less spices . Service has always been an issue, it is just that they never have professional servers .It is run more like a home restaurant rather than a proper restaurant. Go for the food and if you dont fuss about the Ambiance and have a tolerant attitude ,you will enjoy the food.

Grocery store has good selection at reasonable prices, restaurant is less than desirable if you are looking for authentic Indian taste as the food is cooked for American taste and hence, popular. Always a good selection of Indian vegetables and yogurt.

I was ordering naan bread to go and was satisfied with the quality. The last time I went unfortunately and ordered the naan bread to go it was old. I paid $8.00 for old naan bread that tasted like it was yesterdays unused lunch item.
