Ive personally dealt with Universal and its Italian Owners for a while, so i hope this review doesnt get dismissed as a mere rant or a miss guided observation. Ive lived on and off in Ridgewood, Brooklyn for almost 2 decades and like many New Yorkers, you will eventually get your mirror broken by a truck or another car and you will probably end up looking for such parts at a junk yard especially if your vehicle is used. I unfortunately and due to time constraints ended up over and over at Universals Door Steps 1931 Flushing Avenue Ridgewood, NY 11385. Their attitude and demeanor is that of carelessness and utter disrespect for customers. Theyll talk and sound like Tough Italian guys but you will quickly realize that A. they are spineless and simply nasty folks with a bitter approach to most things that can be logically resolved and most importantly B., you are about to get RIPPED OFF. You will Overpay for parts here, best to call around first and dont expect any courtesy as you will soon realize that you are dealing with greedy folks who have no concept of running a business and that all superficial coldness could transform into an abundance of rudeness and a whole lot of contempt the day you ask for a refund because of a faulty or non working items. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into with these guys or you will be regretful for some time to come. Universal Used Auto Parts = Rip OFF + a dose of Nastiness ;) Never Again

I wish there was a way to give them ZERO stars. Im one never to leave a bad cement however this merits me taking my time and warning would be costumers to look else where for parts if they want to safe time and aggravation. I purchase an used engine from them back in 04/03/17 shortly there after I discovered a hole on the engine block. Luckily it was under the 30 day warranty so I thought, good Im covered. After many calls to them and speaking with "Nick" I was told "I would get a replacement motor by this week" week went by more calls I was told tomorrow! then next week, it is now JUNE 30th and Im yet to see a replacement engine or a refund. Now Im being forced to get this matter resolved with the help of attorneys because they fail to give me a refund or a replacement part. My advise to you is STAY AWAY from this people they are NOT professional and conduct very bad business.

I was nervous after seeing bad reviews, but I took a chance and Im glad I did. They gave me a great price, and were very pleasant to deal with. There was no rudeness as others have mentioned. Completely professional, and great with the follow up. I suspect the bad reviews are from people who dont normally deal with used parts and there may have been tension if they dont understand how it works. I am fully satisfied with the service I received.

I called universal for an engine for my 2010 Toyota Corolla they gave me a great price and informed me that my mechanic was overcharging me, they were kind enough to have a tow truck pick my car up(free of charge) and have my engine installed for half of what I was paying, this was 2 years ago and I am happy to say my car is running better than ever, will most definitely be recommending them to family and friends who need parts for their cars

The man was very helpful but when it came to price his entire demeanor changed. I purchased the part because I really needed it right away and I dont know the area very well. Overall I left feeling rip off. I would not buy from them ever again.
