Green Acres has one of those names that leaves you wondering a bit, and it is worth stopping in to check it out. It seems to be primarily a butcher shop / store with an outside restaurant area. Inside, you are greeted with a extensive array of meats and butcher shop staples like cut steaks, fresh seafood, and lots of different types of shop-made sausages. They have a great selection of spices, condiments, beer, and product. All of it is impeccably arranged, with not an onion out of place. The overall feel is that they take great pride in the joint, and it shows. You can order food inside, or outside, but all of the tables are outside to the right of the entrance as you walk up. When you walk in the food side, you can take a shortcut and order off the burger menu which they will start as soon as you walk in. If you want to order from the broader selection you step down a bit farther to order. You have a good selection of ribs, tri-tip, pulled pork. You also have some creative options like Chicken Ceasar Sandwich, and the Tri Tip Burrito. I saw the hamburgers they were huge. I ate the tri tip dinner, which came with chili / beans that was more like a great chili, and potato salad. The wife had the pulled pork burrito. They also have a good selection of their own sauces, which were very good. The outside area seats 80 and is heated if its cool, with awnings and curtains so its comfortable. They also have misters out there if its hot. We made it to this place finally as part of my search for good local BBQ after moving here from Kansas City. This is one of the top few that Ive found in the Simi or West LA area. Cross posted Yelp

They claim their meat is USDA choice or higher, and usually use the phrase "USDA choice or prime" inferring that sometimes they get USDA prime meat. They dont. They will never get it unless it comes by accident. And their tri-tip, and other roast meats are usually USDA SELECT, and neither choice nor prime. All you have to do is inspect one of the cardboard boxes in the back for proof of this. The tri-tip sandwiches are pretty good, so if you eat outside youre ok, but the prices are horrible. They target wealthier communities as far as Calabasas and other parts of LA county with their ad campaigns. The produce is top quality, but priced at 5 times what Ralphs next door, or any other major Grocery would charge for the same product. They hire illegal immigrants to keep costs down, and there is a bald one who has been working there since he came to the states, and still makes the same amount of money as he was 15 years ago. The catering service is overpriced, and only the women in the catering department are capable of customer service, while the gents dont really care about the customer. The ground beef has BULL meat in it. And while they claim that the "meat loaf" is kosher. It is made in the same grinder as the pork sausages, and sometimes even has a little bit of pork mixed in "for flavor". If youre driving by, you can get some garlic bread, or a tri tip sandwich, but stay away from the meat inside. They even sell food that has fallen on the saw dust on the floor behind the counter.

This place is a quaint look into the past when your corner grocery store took care of your essential shopping needs. My wife and son and I went because the Tri-tip BBQ sandwiches were highly recommended. Yes, not only do they sell outstanding organic and everyday groceries they have an outside restuarant that cooks up a simple but well respected American food fare. The service was friendly and the food incredible. Id give it 5 starts but the flies were a challenge. But thats what happens when you have to sit outside. There is no enclosure. Other than that, I highly recommend this place.

I always enjoy some great tri-tip, and this place does not disappoint. The moment you are pulling up you smell the aroma of great tasting food. The quality and tenderness is felt the second you put one of their great sandwiches in your mouth. If its the tri-tip, chicken, or any of their other great meats, you will not be disappointed. They also have a store that has fresh meat and fish that you can take to grill at home marinated or non marinated. The service is great as their staff will make sure your needs are met. Parking is in their lot and a non issue.

I went to Green Acres today to buy barbecue chicken and ribs. I paid for a whole chicken and only got a half, I called to let them know and they gave me attitude. They did not give a receipt and the guy asked me if I was sure I paid for a whole chicken and not half. Yes I am sure because I always buy the same thing and the total amount of money is always the same. This is the last time I will be buying anything here.

We booked Green Acres to cater our wedding and I am so glad we did! The food was excellent! They were very professional. I made a few last minute changes and they were very accommodating. We got all of our rentals from Green Acres as well and it was great to only have one vendor for all the major stuff. We were very happy with them and would defiantly book them in the future.

This store has been here a long time. I went there the first time in the early 60s. Great for sandwiches and side orders for the or take out. If you need nice cuts of meats, this is where you want to go. Fast service and very helpful staff. It is a land mark in Simi and worth the time going. You can also order at the outside for a great luch

If you are ever in this area you MUST try the BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwiches here. With an average pricing of $ 6 dls you can not go wrong. They have a market behind the smoker and the meat is cooked right there and then. You can smell the BBQ smoke from a far. Market goods, are fresh and the staff is friendly. You can not go wrong!!

Lets start by saying, their grill has the best Tri-tip sandwich in Simi and beyond. Great burgers too, although sadly when they fix the burger at the counter, they cant reach over to add a slice of Cheddar. But they can add "Yellow Cheese" if thats your game. Now.... Best quality meat, with the best butchers in Simi

This market has a small town, general store-like charm seldom seen anywhere, except for maybe the mountains. The staff is very helpful, super friendly, and its one of the only places int he county that has brisket. Their BBQ is also some of the best Ive had. Go here, you wont be disappointed.

Based on Ch. 5 recommendation yesterday, drove from Oxnard and due to traffic, arrived at 4 minutes to 7 pm (they quite serving at 7 apparently). Wouldnt serve us so we wasted our drive. Come on...you couldnt make a sandwich for us! Very disappointed.

They have the best tri tip sandwich your tastebuds will ever have the pleasure of tasting. They are very generous with their meat. You will not be disappointed. I have searched far and wide for a place like this. The garlic cheese spread is the best!
