I purchased a car from DriveTime on a Saturday 2 weeks ago. The car was a 2014 Chrysler 200, 37k miles. My husband and I drove the car around Sunday and Monday. On Tuesday I took the car to a oil change place to ease my mine about my purchase. The oil change placed notice a transmission leak. I was advised that a car with only 37k miles on it should not have a transmission leak. I was also advised to take the car to a transmission specialist to see exactly were the leaks are coming from. I then took the car to a transmission specialist to see where the leaks were coming from and how much such an repair would cost. The transmission specialist said that there was definitely a leak in several areas of the transmission and also a engine leak as well. He said that the repairs would be about $1400+. I drove the car back to the drivetime in Duluth. They said that I would need to call the service provider for the extended warranty and that it would be no charge to me because I am within my first 30 days. I read the contract before signing it. I reminded them that I was within my first 5 days and had driven the car less than 300 miles, so I was well within my rights to return the car and get a full refund of my deposit. I did love the car so I decided to see if it could be fixed by the transmission specialist I took it too. I called the extended warranty department and they said that I would have to take the car to the Drive Time repair department in Stone Mountain or pay a 200 deductible. I was not about to do that. I called the drive time repair department in Stone Mountain. They said that They could not get the car serviced until Thursday. I told them that I did not have until Thursday.(I did not want to go pass my 5 day limit). The lady said that she could take the car in on Wednesday 8am. I told her that I was on my way to drop off the car and check it in on Tuesday so that It could look at it on Wednesday. On Wednesday I called several times about the car after 11am. I did not get any information about the car until after 4pm. They told us that they did not see any engine leak but they did see a transmission leak. They said It should be a quick fixed. That just did not sound right. Especially after a transmission specialist told us it would cost $1400 My husband and I decided to take a trip to the location to speak to someone in person. They told us that it was a gasket that needed to be replaced and that it was only a $300 repair (no cost to me because I was within my first 30 days). My fear was that they were putting a patch job on a costly repair. I decided to return the car. My question is how did this car pass the thorough inspection that they claim they do. After further research and speaking to family and friends, this is not the first time this had happen. Luckily I did take it to a mechanic and I was within my first 5 days 300 miles. If you do decide to buy a car from DriveTime I advise anyone to take the car to a mechanic before the end of your 5 days and before driving it 300 miles.

RUN RUN FAR AWAY !!!! If i could give drive time no stars i would. i have had the worst experience with them. Although the sales person was excellent help i was very disappointed in the rest of there service. I was really excited about the car i chose , but we were signing the papers and it came up that the title was in someone else name. How can it be on the lot when the paperwork is not in order. So the salesman showed me another car and it was similar but did not have all the features the one i chose did. I went ahead and took the car home with the impression i could return it within the 3 days to come back and get the car i really wanted. So on the second day i called and they said the title was not fixed yet. So i came to the conclusion i would just keep the one i got, i did ask the dealer if they would anyway possible add the key starter on the this car as it was the feature i most liked on the car, but i was denied that. Well after 3 days passed the car began to do many things - 1 big ticket was it wasnt starting right . i took it to 3 different mechanic shops in drive time network and 2 months of testing and they could not figure the problem. And i had to do there jobs and check what was going on making sure the warranty covered the cost, because it was within the first 30 days of purchasing the car. Finally they sent it to the dealer and they replaced a few parts before they figured out which one it was. Also the breaks were replaced because they were all rusted out. What gets me is they say all cars go through a 7 point inspection. I highly doubt that. I have had the worse experience with this dealer and this is not my first dealership i deal with, but this by far is the worst . Drive time customer service really sucks. They act like no one can help you, what kind of customer service is that. One customer service representative Hiel was arguing about my payment, and when they made a mistake she wanted to blame it on me. out of a 1-5 on customer service i would say a BIG FAT 0. DRIVE TIME IS THE WORST COMPANY , AND IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME CHECK THE BBB, THEY HAVE OVER 2000 COMPLAINTS. STEER CLEAR.

The only reason DriveTime has 5 Stars is because they have you give them a high review before leaving the dealership. Youll learn. 2 weeks after buying my car & being forced into high bi-weekly payments, My brake light came on. I had to pay 30$ for an inspection & found out that my oil was bone dry, hood latch was loose, my parking brake was broken, & my remote start opens my trunk. I was insured by Drivetime that my car was carefully inspected by professionals before buying. Lies. When I contacted Drivetime, they refused to reimburse my oil change (25$) & inspection fee (30$) but wanted to look at my car for just the brake issue. By then I was so pissed. I just hung up. My hours at work are never guaranteed. I told them my car payment is TOO HIGH especially when I have other bills. (I was told when buying the car I didnt have other options but it could go lower after owning it for a while) My bi-weekly payments are the price of my paycheck itself. I was told my payments are affordable for my budget & that I cant pay monthly until I prove I can pay money every 2 weeks. How backwards is that. They want you to fail. They wont work with you. I am young, dumb, & this is my first financed car. Its ruining my life. Please have your car inspected! & pay everything cash or pay off your loan as fast as possible. Im talking lightning speed. Youve been warned.
