cool lil dump, adequate beer selection, good location, average prices... weird story, though...i stopped in to grab some craft brews, the counter staff was friendly and helpful, but as i made my way to the back shelves a potato chip deliveryman was wheeling some boxes in to restock the racks. as he was filling the shelves, a man who i assumed was the owner walked over and asked for the invoice to review and presumably pay. he checked out the paperwork and began to freak out on the chip guy, berating him and screaming about him not bringing a particular variety of snack. the lowly wage slave calmly explained to him, as he had done the previous week, that the distributor no longer carried aforementioned flavor of fried starch/grain cracker, at which time the emperor of booze threw the bill of lading down telling the plebe that he was worthless, and wondering aloud whether selling the snacks from this particular company was worth his time...i quickly paid and left.

Theres something really awesome about Cairo that I cant quite describe without telling people to just go there. Its a small store, but absolutely packed to the brim with bottles of liquor, wine, and beer. The prices are very, very fair, and the selection is understandably awesome. The most impressive thing to me, however, is the beer selection. Not because its large - its not - but because the person who curates the selection clearly knows what theyre doing. There are great examples of a lot of beer styles in Cairo, and while theres not a wide variety, what you get is delicious. Check back frequently to see what rare beers theyre stocking at the time. Im not going to let on to all the stuff they get in, but suffice to say that other beer stores hold entire parties dedicated to the release of some of the bottles youll find quietly tucked away on the shelf... Oh, and the soundtrack is always awesome.

Found a bottle of Balvenie Scotch here for $40 when both of the other stores I went to down the block were selling it for $60+. Bought a bottle of Vouvray and when I was opening it, the neck of the bottle broke (I guess the bottle was defective?). They replaced the bottle no questions asked. I will definitely do business with these folks again.

This is a hidden gem in DC. It looks like a not so nice corner store but walk inside and start looking at the items for sale and you know somebody knows what they are doing. This place has brands and prices that arent easy to find around DC. Friendly staff as well.

friendly cool guys. they even sell kegs if you ask. look up and behind the counter and on top of stuff you will some dusty gems of every type of liquor that you never see. oh yeah and they have gossling rum and ginger beer.

These guys are awesome. They have a great selection of beers and wines and the guys have the best recommendations. Also, if they dont have something you are looking for just ask them and they can help you find it or order it.
