Been here twice, consecutive days. At first, I wouldve given them 4 stars because my coffee wasnt as hot as Id like it to be but I came back the day after to give it another shot. The second time, I asked them to make it extra hot, which they did. The way they treat their customers, in my experience, is warm and nice. The place is just 2 blocks from where I work so Ill definitely come here regularly even if theyre surrounded by dozens of starbucks. Ive tasted a better cup of coffee. Im not saying theyre the best but better than starbucks (I know that they (starbucks) are not that good anyway.) Beef empanada? It may not be a coffees best friend but Id go for it, always. Thats how good they make it. Ambience - 4/5 Staff - 5/5 Coffee - 4/5

Seriously, the coffee tastes horrible at THIS Juan Valdez Cafe. My co-workers and I had tea, black coffee and a latte. Regretfully, our descriptions of our drinks ranged from "wet cardboard" to "tinny, stale and spoiled" and "rusted and moldy." We all though it was the milk and the employees were certain it was NOT the milk. When they kindly replaced all of our drinks, the tea and coffee without milk were still as bad as the first order. What a shame because the location is accessible, spacious and well lit. In addition, they have wifi with your purchase. If Im in the area, I MAY give them a second chance... only becuase the Times Square location has GREAT coffee.

When I walked in, I noticed there was a nice seating area primarily in the back after the counter area. I really liked that - so even on a cold day like today, youre seated well away from any draft youre dying youre dying to avoid as long as humanly possible. My small cappuccino with syrup came to $4.25. Not cheap, but the foam was delightfully frothy (very key) and the drink remained warm for 30 minutes plus, even after a subsequent wait out in the cold for the bus. The drink was the right degree of strong. If I run into another JV throughout the city, Ill definitely be stopping back in.

This is my favorite coffee place in NYC. Its probably one of the last Juan Valdez coffee shops in NYC unfortunately. Its close to my workplace and it has the best Colombian coffee. I usually get the cafe con leche and an arepa for breakfast. Their arepas are huge and full of cheesy goodness. You can ask them to toast for you so it will be warm. The staff there are very nice and if you want to stay there for a while with your laptop, they wont bother you.

Plenty of space inside. For New York, it was really surprising. The coffee is really great and the atmosphere is quiet, but not pretentious. I was able to purchase 3 items and still keep it under 10 dollars, so the prices are definitely reasonable. The only thing was that there was a lack of savory treats, and the treat I did get didnt seem to be executed the way it should have been. Other than that, I recommend it and will come back if I am in the neighborhood.

Made our first visit, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the coffee and the unique choices for drinks on the menu. I had the Cortado, which was prepared perfectly. It was crazy busy, but the staff were bet friendly and welcoming. We sat in the window and watched people walk by, which was pleasant. We never felt rushed out encouraged to leave. Definitely a great place to stop if you want to avoid those yucky national chains for coffee.

Juan Valdez Coffee is a great cafe in Midtown East. Its far better than Starbucks because there are more tables, cleaner bathrooms, and wi-fi. People come here to work, have meetings, and lounge. With that said, it is actually pretty noisy! But thats good energy and there is definitely a buzz here. I had coffee with cardamom in it and it was horrible. Stick with the more traditional stuff. They also offer fresh squeezed juice.

I love this place! Design is amazing! There are two different environments when dining at Juan Valdez Cafe. If you choose to sit at the front of the cafe you get a more lively, upbeat and cool (Air conditioned) vibe. If you sit towards the rear of the cafe youll experience this peaceful, relaxing and totally laid back vibe. Its incredible. Two completely experiences but the service and products are always exceptional.

Finally a good coffee, delicious, aromatic in a very pleasant and elegant place in the city. You can have your coffee in a mug!! and feel like you are at home..The food it is pretty good too, the Pandebonos (cheese bread from Colombia) are my favorite, and Arepa de Choclo too (like a pancake made of corn) just let them to heat it up for you and be ready to travel to a wonderful place. Enjoy.

My cappuccino is fine. My partner Doesnt like her iced coffee. The service was effective, and I dont need friendly. The space is fine too, its distinctive and relatively open, if not particularly to my taste. But I wouldnt count on the wifi, judging from my current experience. Its so slow that it is completely useless: like > 1 min for Google to load.

Great place to do work, given all the seating in the back and free wifi. Theres kind of a surreal wallpaper amazon art going on here but I think it works for the atmosphere? I was however disappointed in my holiday latte because it tasted like burnt coffee, and bad drinks seems to be what people are saying about this place.

10/22/2016-Awesome! Very pleasant. Ive been looking for a coffee place to make my own. In need of a nice place to concentrate to write away, and Ive found it. I havent met all the employees, but Jaime and a Colombian guy were great! Very kind and nice people. Ill be back. Thanks for the hospitality!

So disappointed! Im seating here with friends having coffee, a coffee nevado (frappucino) and a soy latte. They dont have any flavor :( It tastes like water. In Colombia their products are much better than this. Im ashamed they show themselves as the colombian coffee here. Too sad.

Bad experience in a usually ok place. The barista was slow and not cleaning up well, leaving milk on the steam wand. I then noticed that the refrigerator door was broken and didnt close properly. I did not want to chance the milk that was being stored there.

There is so much space to study and catch up with friends. There are lots of drinks options but wish there were more munchies. Service is uber friendly and efficient. Drinks are pretty tasty. I also wish there were more outlets. Its a good haven to study.

Fell in love with this place when visiting Cali. I cant explain it, but it just tastes better! Workers are nice as most Colombians are (although I know, of course, that they are not all Colombians). Their blended drinks are the bomb, and have no milk!
