The owners and employees are ill-mannered and brash. My mother went to visit this orchard with her friends from her dance group. They have been looking forward to this trip for weeks. There were approximately 56-57 people in their group. When they arrived, they paid a fee of $5.41 per person (approx. $308.37 total). Almost immediately, an employee began badging one of the visitors. The employee immediately accused the guest of "stealing apples" because she was not using the designated apple receptacle. There may have been some miscommunication due to a language barrier. Instead of attempting to reconcile this simple misunderstanding, the staff member began acting injudiciously and hastily threatened to call the police. Immediately, all of the guests in the group were asked to leave. Members of the group who had picked fruit already were rushed to pay for the items. The cashier checked the purses of three of the women as they were paying for the produce. No one was allowed to use the restroom. Within 30 minutes, the guests were in and out. PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS ORCHARD. The owners/employees are hot-headed and discriminatory. They were quick to accuse a patron of stealing apples and happy to kick everyone out while keeping their money. That is not an act motivated by justice, but rather an ignorant act carried out in the name of greed. I am absolutely appalled by the behavior of this establishment. There are plenty of other orchards out there. Do not waste your time and money to support a business that does not care about their customers.

Went this past weekend (Sunday 10/16/2016) and it was more than a 45 minute wait in an idling car to get inside the parking lot. Then another 15 minutes to pay a cover charge ($5 a head). Then 20 minutes of walking around to find a tree with ANY apples on it. Finally found them, but the place is almost entirely picked over. That is in part due to a spring frost which reduced the apple crop for the region, but also a lack of candor on the part of the farm that virtually all the apples are gone. The place has a circus atmosphere - loud live bands playing pop tunes that I found intrusive, a petting zoo, and an open-air beer garden. The apple-picking seemed almost secondary. I would not recommend Barton. Best to try nearby Fishkill Farms (which we loved last year but this year they are all "picked out" too) or other orchards along the west coast of the Hudson, there might be some better options there, and less of a carnival feel to the whole thing.

Fun for all! For the 2nd year ina row we visited Barton Orchards with a large group of family and friends. Plenty of staff on hand to direct you with parking, etc. Every year they add on more attractions to make a visit enjoyable. This year they even had a hot air balloon ride. Plenty of fun for kids, teens and adults. Good food, music and lots of rides/slides for the kids. When we went the weather was very nice and the place got crowded very quickly. They could use more hand washing areas (plenty of port a potties) and more seating by the stage. Also the lines for food and refreshments gets big in a hurry. It would be nice if they allowed picnicking even if they charge extra. Always a fun day out.

Do you enjoy sitting in traffic for over an hour? Do you enjoy paying 3x what apples cost in the store? Are you looking to take a second mortgage out to enjoy a warm apple pie? If You answered Yes to any of these questions Barton Orchards is for you! 1 hour wait in traffic to park. $5 just to walk onto the property. $10 to rent a picker, 5 of which is returned. This place is a racket. There are many family owned and operated orchards that charge half of what these people are. If you dont have kids why should you pay for the same things that those with kids do?! Dont waste a nice fall Saturday here.....

I like going here but you have to have a plan of attack. If you dont, youll be spending half of the day on lines. I go with the wife and kids and we like to get our shopping done first thing...apple cider donuts, cider, pastries, etc then put them in the car and the rest of the day we just enjoy the activities. Bathroom lines can get long, If you take one kid to the bathroom take them all at the same time, trust me on this one... Lunch either bring your own or get on line early...lunch line is painful.... Kids always have a good time and so do we...except for the lines...so plan ahead...

I went on a school trip here last year and was really impressed. This year I am so disappointed with how my business is being held. I have been trying to reach someone for the past 2.5 weeks to receive a voicemail and I just keep getting transferred. If I do not get transferred my name and number get taken down and no one returns my calls. All the bus companies are now sold out because i cannot book without reserving the apple picking trip. I am so frustrated. I wish i can give 0 stars. I tried calling and a very rude assistant hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here.

I was there for the Balloon Festival, it was a 3 day event i went just on Saturday with my kids and a few of my friends and their kids, it was awesome to see the balloons and the event itself had alot to entertain both kids and adults. there was hay rides, maze, live music on 2 stages, beer wine were sold by purchasing tickets at the event(no cash exchange at the Bar) , petting zoo, ,all sorts of vendors food and merchandise, bring your blankets and chairs and spend a whole day enjoying it! I will be back during apple picking season to see how that is.

We paid $12.50 for our kids to enjoy the entire property and let me tell you there is A LOT of things to do...From the animals to the petting zoo, everything was awesome. The staff were all informative and friendly...my kids LOVED the new Goat Bridge on the property and that was a BIG hit. Best time to go (at least for us) is during the week, the weekends seem packed! Definitely be back a lot next year, especially seeing as how you cant even go to the movies for less than a mortgage payment!

Various food stands throughout the facility sell different items - there are individual lines to purchase apple cider doughnuts, drinks, fried food (onion rings, apple fritters, french fries), hot dogs, other food items like pizza or burgers, and more. The place was extremely crowded which meant a huge line for every single purchase. We spent more time waiting in line than doing anything else. Despite this frustration, the corn maze was well done and we had fun picking apples.

Very overpriced...5.00 per person and pretty much everything is ala carte. So if you simply want to pick a a large bag of apples with a few kids expect your bill to be around 50.00. This may work well for people traveling from the city and mid-westchester (your going to pay since you traveled over an hour anyway) but not friendly to those who have a modest income or want the simple pick-your-own experience
