There used to be some great staff at this store. John was always friendly and went above and beyond to help. He was fired after a couple of years. Kat and Richard were also always friendly and went above and beyond. Also fired after a couple of years. Seems to be what the owner does. Since Kat and Richard are gone the store is a MESS. I used to love going in there with my dogs and picking up a few things but I literally cannot even get through the store because there is crap blocking the aisles and its unorganized. EVERY DAY its like that. They also started carrying weird stuff like life sized stuffed animal dogs. Im not talking dog toys, Im talking huge stuffed animals. Its dirty now too. On top of it being messy and dirty, they got rid of the amazing store cat. I hadnt seen her in a while and thought she was hiding because the store is in disarray. But the snarky new employee said she was gotten rid of because she was old and stressed. Hell to the no. Kat and Richard worshipped that cat and she was NEVER stressed even when I went in there with a big, hyper puppy. She was always happily napping on the radiator. Want to know whats on the radiator now? A giant stuffed dog. Theyve lost my business. Any future employees should probably be wary since they seem to be disposable.

Horrible experience and way over priced. One of the clerks there talked me into buying a crazy expensive dog chew toy after I pushed back saying "I appreciate it but my dog tears through toys like this and Im afraid hell choke." The clerk pushed saying "Not this dig toy. Hell never get through it! And if he does bring it back and Ill give you a refund." In literally one day my dog destroyed the toy. When I brought it in the manager refused to take it back. No apologies or anything even after I explained the back and forth with the clerk. I was shocked! Never going back.

I only have one thing to say to all the negative reviewers here: Please get off your high horse and stop overreacting to isolated incidences caused by what sounds like the same temp employee. Their regular employees are helpful, knowledgeable, and actually care! Especially the store manager, who is such a sweetheart. Its a small, independent business (not a chain like Petco) that only sells top-shelf and healthy products. So of course the prices are going to be slightly higher, youre paying for real quality food and brands.

The Pet Market NYC on 57th is wonderful. Its a small shop, but there are still plenty of options to choose from when buying food, treats, toys, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful, they deliver, and their deliveries are always timely. I lived in that neighborhood for a little under a year and that was my go-to pet supply store. Ive just moved to the UWS and will probably start going to the 2821 Broadway one now!

Couldnt even buy a bag of food because I was waiting for one woman and the employee to get a cat out from under the racks. Then she proceeded to go back to the register and could of easily rang my one item up and they decided they wanted to play with the cat when it did come out. Waited for like 15 minutes then left.
