*update* I cant give this place my business anymore. As times change, kombucha and kale chips are as ubiquitous as coke and pringles. The staff in here are never nice to ME. Ive seen them be nice to other people..but never to me. Pretty sure my money is the same as the person in front of me on line. I stood on line waiting to be acknowledged as one guy was on the phone and then another person opens and takes the person BEHIND me. So Im done. A Matter of Health isnt much further, it has a great selection, and the staff is always friendly...to everyone. I like this store because its a health store option that is on the path to work for me. It has a lot of the packaged items that I like (sunflower seed butter, caramel corn rice cakes, Ezekiel bread). They also have extensive items for my hair (oils, butters, organic shampoos). They dont have as much fruit as I would like, but I normally go in for specific items. I tried their vegan macro bento box recently, and was surprised by how much food I got for 5 dollars. It was also well seasoned and satisfying (and Im not vegan..I went in with no expectations).

And have always had a good experience with the Staff and the products they offer. I tend to feel sorry for the staff at times for having to put up with all the snooty spoiled upper east side women who have nothing better to do then complain about everything Including their own ex husbands / family and neighbors while they lavishly spend money on un-necessary products. This place is really great and i encourage everyone in the neighborhood to support this store and be kind to the under-paid employees. If you happen to see or hear angry patrons stomping around in the store, Please do the staff a favor and help them remove mis-behaving types out onto the side walk. We need more food stores like this in our city.

In this city of Whole Foods and Lifetyme, when I see that someone has given a health food store 5 stars, I come with certain expectations. Big mistake. I was looking for a quick and easy lunch and was severely disappointed by the wilted fare behind the small deli counter. So I went to the refrigerated shelves and got a sandwich - hummus and lettuce - how could you mess up that? Well apparently you can! The hummus was SO BITTER, it was barely edible. I should probably give the store one star, except I bought a very delicious box of prepackaged vegan cookies (definitely worth a start of its own.)

I was surprised to learn they have a cat on premises since it is a "health" store where some customers are allergic to cats as I am and have asthma as I do. Perhaps they kill any mice that may show up. Im not sure if they have this but pre-pared dinners marked Asthma Dinner which would be safe for asthma customers would be great. I guess pre-made meals marked Acid reflux Dinner" , Diabetes Dinner, Heart Healthy Dinner, etc would save a lot people the trouble of figuring out safe meals. Of course these meals would have to be carefully prepared by knowledgeable qualified people.

l live in the area so I do pick up boxed vitamins. Just wanted to share with everyone who love animals. Last Saturday I noticed the broom closet ( near frozen food section) was open and to my surprise I saw a litter box and then noticed a Cat . I spoke to the manager regarding the lack of ventilation in the closet. The response- its a cat ! I was shocked to learn they did not care - the cat is locked up in the closet which is cruel and unhealthy for any animal" . I did report this to animal authorities and since I do love animals.

The staff is extremely mean. They lie about their inventory to your face. They dont care about anything you ask or have to say. Its as if the customers dont matter. The prices are higher then any other health food store, so much so that its 30% higher then stores 10 blocks away. It was on my way to work so I use to shop here a lot but I refuse to give them any of my business. After 4 or 5 problems with them I cant go in anymore. Their products are often stale too.

What I like about this store is the huge selection of products sold at this store and the large space. The company firmly believes in allowing new companies to demo at the store and allowing customers to try and taste the products. I was lucky to find several natural cleaning products that I can use at my home. Lavender is popular but orange Trewax Natural is hard to find. Pro The manager Roy is always there to help you with any questions that you may have.

Pricey, on level or just above WF but Im glad I found it, aaand this broke student shops sales. Vegan friendly. Just wish more fruit were available and not at $8 a cup of grapes ! (Could also be the season, though!)

This place has a huge selection crammed into its modest space. They almost always have what I need--no matter how obscure the product. And their delivery service is fast, reliable, and free with a $40. purchase!
