Im not entirely sure why there are so many bad reviews of this place! Rizzoli is a really neat store which is pretty artfully designed and full of interesting books. My sister and I stumbled in here the last time I was in New York. This place has tons of coffee table books -- and lots of photography books, so maybe coming here looking for shelves full of novels is a misguided approach. However, this is a great place to snag a gift for a book lover, as there are many different sections from fashion to food. I didnt end up getting anything, and nobody offered me any help, but I did enjoy my experience here. Id definitely come back to check out the new offerings when in the city.
Deludente!
I love the books but the service was terrible. The staff girl (short, blond and wearing glasses) almost threw away my book. I asked her if there is a sample of book I wanted to see. She said "No, I can open it" and took off the package. But I didnt want to buy that after watching inside. When I gave back to her, she almost threw it next to her. And the other staff was laughing. I cant believe how this insulting situation can be happended in "Rizzoli" bookstore.

Placed an order that was a nuptial omage with Joe Pilla. It took me 45 minutes because I had to spell every single letter of my name, the recipients name, message. I was told that the order was leaving the shop in two days. Only one week after , when I checked, I discovered that the order was never recorded, never left the shop, was never received. Customer Service was of no help. To be avoided.
Youll want to go here and when you do you wont leave for hours because their selection of books is exactly what you are looking for. Having spent hours elsewhere seeking books on typography, gardening and cooking - Rizzolis had the best quality options, by far. Dont be surprised if the books have no prices. They also sell a heap of international papers and magazines up front.
I visited and browsed. It a nicely arranged bookstore in the Flatiron/Chelsea area. Pleasant and fairly quiet. Rizzoli seems to specialize in art books (I know the publisher does), and thats reflected here. This is probably not where you want to go for the latest paperback bestseller, but if youre looking for art books and larger hardcover formats, its a place to look.
I love this store, it has floors filled with wonderful books and it is quite elegant. They have sections for French books, Italian books etc. There is a little something for everyone. As you saunter around, you will wonder about the history of the store because its beautiful inside. Make sure you have ample time to look around, you wont want to leave.
Its nice but not enough ...the old location was so much better and the book selection was vast and more interesting. The very bad new : original Italian books are tremendously expensive ; you will pay much lees by ordering them on line directly from Italy ( Feltrinelli or Mondadori ). This is a kick in the butt for the Italian Culture.
Excellent bookstore especially when smaller and independent bookstores in Manhattan are becoming a thing of the past. The sections here are small but if you are looking for something in general, they may have a book or two about it. This place is good for foreigners and artists as there are many books in French, Italian, and about art.
A lovely old fashioned shop with many categories you wouldnt normally find in a shop this size, such as wine, Italian literature, and architecture. Nice decor and atmosphere and the prices were reasonable. A book lovers shop. No negatives really but it just didnt blow me away enough to get that fifth star.
Una librería de una editorial, libros de buen gusto, hay libro de artista, muchos álbumes a precios variables.

Es una tienda de libros tranquila y silenciosa. Muy elegante, pero no es tan grande como barnes&noble.
I like the store!! The shelves are high though, definitely awkward for short people like me. I could reach 2.5 shelves I believe. Even if youre taller than me, youll need a ladder. This makes a lot of books un-flippable.

Inolvidable por el film Enamorandose. Los empleados no tenian idea del film.
The newest reincarnation of Rizzolis brick and mortar store, this bookstore is an architectural beauty—highly befitting of the NoMad neighborhood. Feels amazing just to be in it!
Une très belle librairie... Un moment de calme dans la folie de NYC
Nueva sede de la famosa editorial de libros de diseño y moda.
Great bookstore in a striking space. Large collection of large-format books on various subjects like photography and architecture, wonderfully presented
Fantastic browsing; great selection of books; support an independent bookstore. Music may be a tad loud but other than that, a wonderful experience.
Bright, tidy, and beautifully designed bookstore with lots of interesting titles, especially on New York and travels, two of my favorite subjects.
Great store in a neighborhood that is devoid of bookshops. Well edited selection. Great spot for gifts. Frequent readings and events here
The atmosphere is always very nice. I like to come in and read up on the art magazines lol they always have great book signing events
Beautiful bookstore but as soon as you walk in there is a terribly foul odor. Couldnt stay in there for long. It was horrible.
Great Book Store. it always has wonderful books that I can enjoy. It also has rare books or hard to find books. Great
