Mani is an excellent neighborhood grocery store. I usually get fruits here - they are consistently fresh. They also offer a decent selection of good quality produce. Price is reasonable. Service is friendly and fast! I frequently see the staff chatting with their regular customers so thats always a good sign. Be sure to also check out Milas Cafe (by the same owner of Manis) right across the street. They serve the best, most reasonably-priced breakfast in the area. Ive tried their french toast, breakfast sandwiches, coffee - all excellent! Note that theres only one guy cooking and manning the register at Milas so there may be a little bit of a wait on the weekends. But hes always so cheerful - perhaps the secret ingredient to the tasty breakfast :) Mani takes credit cards. Milas is cash only.

We just moved into 94th and CPW and were hoping for a good brew pick-up spot. Found it! Whoever is doing the purchasing at Manis is doing a bang up job of having quality craft brews and keeping up to date with the latest trends. In addition, the store sports the necessities and carries a good selection of cheeses and those harder to find items you need to enjoy your home coked meal. A trip to Food City and Manis (food city is cheap with poor service... but close) keeps us from ever needing to trek to whole foods.

They have lots of local produce here, which is great, but as I mentioned, it has that cool farmstand feel. There are not just a few pumpkins here and there, for example, there is a big pile! There is cider! There are cider doughnuts from Upstate (pre-packaged)! There are Long Island beets and attractive looking tomatoes....Im not referring to the cashiers!

Taso and Taki came to the neighborhood decades ago doing what has only recently become hip: excellent upmarket stuff, chosen by someone who loves to cook and eat. But the prices havent gone thru the roof. If you want to shop small and like a real New Yorker, this is your place. Weve loved this store since it opened in 199?.

Great neighborhood place with a solid and varied beer selection, decent prices and a little bit of everything you really need. Usually frequnt it as a market, but the prepared food is also fresh, tasty, and decently priced.
