Horrible experience. I walked in and wasnt greeted with a hello but rather a wait over there. I informed the hostess that she oughta greet patrons. She decided to speak about me to one of the servers. After 5-6 min we were seated by the way of someone waving us to our seat. Once seated our server came with in a second and asked if we wanted coffee to which we said no thank you. She then immediately walked away while informing us to let her know when we are ready, ( without asking if we wanted any other beverages as if all we were allowed was coffee). She then proceeded to say that our faces seemed off. I had no idea what she meant by that. But I refused to spend hard earned money on horrible service. So my friend and I left. I see that the representatives of this particular establishment seem to leave responses to the many reviews. However, they are very passive and offer no real resolution to the problem, which is the lack of customer service. You are an establishment thats in the hospitality profession and the lack of hospitality is alarming. Id recommend training staff on how to greet and inform customers upon entering the diner. Also, maybe have the servers greet the patrons at their tables with a, hello welcome to Andrews coffee shop, my name is __________, may I offer you any coffee or any other beverage to start? ( wait for response) once the customer places beverage order the server will then say Ill go grab your beverages while you look over the menu and will be back to answer any questions you may have and or take your order. Simple but still providing some comfort and service. The customer should never feel uncomfortable or unwelcomed. As a hospitality professional of 12 years in some of the top restaurants in Washington, D.C., I can assure you that a smile and a greeting will go a long way. First impressions are often lasting impressions and shouldnt be compromised or taken for granted in the hospitality field. Food for thought....

They Nickel and Dime You - What do you think youd be charged if the menu says a tuna sandwich is $7.95. But wait, the waiter asks if you want lettuce and tomato and you say yes. Now how much? The answer is $8.45. Why? Because when you question the overcharge the explanation is that they charge for the tomato slices (which are thin and only 1 layer). When questioned why the waiter offered tomatoes without saying it costs extra, he replied, we dont charge for the lettuce but we charge 50 cents for the tomato. Nor does this charge appear in the menu in the sandwich section. (Granted I didnt study the entire menu for the fine print - even though its common knowledge everyone else looks for a tomato charge except for me .) Things you think normally come with a sandwich. But my mind is surely eased knowing that they dont charge for lettuce. Isnt yours? [Since theyre on a roll with the 50 cents, may I suggest charging (for their nickel-and-diming motive) $0.25 for the lettuce, a plating fee, a fee for the toothpicks in the sandwich, a slicing the sandwich in half surcharge, a pickle fee, and a cole slaw fee? I wonder what you would think if the waiter asked if you want your sandwich served on a plate and got charged for. Not to mention why not go all out and charge extra for the fork , the napkins, the ice in the water, and the lemon in the water which Im sure cost more than the tomato, and a water refill fee?]

I went on holiday to NYC in August and honest to god this was one of the highlights. My mum & I had been to Macys and were thirsty so we headed here as it was just around the corner. We checked out the menu and just ordered a milkshake (chocolate ice cream milkshake is amazing btw) but then we looked at other tables and saw how nice the food looked so we decided to come back later in the night for dinner. Best decision ever. That night, we kept to our word and returned. As soon as we sat down, a lovely waitress offered us both glasses of water and told us she would be looking after us (and she damn well did!!) We ordered mozzarella sticks which were divine and my mum had nachos which were also so nice. Then I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was amazing. My mum had the stuffed burger which I had a bite of and thought was fantastic. For dessert, we shared a home made Cherry Pie which was just fantastic. I dont know the name of the waitress, but I think she sounded Southern (maybe Texas idk) and maybe in her 40s.. I know its vague but if you know who Im talking about, please pass on the message and tell her shes fantastic! As we loved it so much, we went back a few times ordering different items and they were all lovely. Thank you for providing me with such good food!!

If youre looking for a simple quick bite to eat, without bells and whistles, Andrews is the place to go. As we walked in, no one greeted us, we just stood in the center of the waiting area, and when someone attempted to seat us, he simply waved us over instead of actually speaking (i presume there may have been a language barrier, or maybe he was in a poor mood? who knows) but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth before we even tasted the food. Next up was the 15 minute wait for a server to make contact with us, which seemed to be the situation with the table right next to us as well. We were seated at a table right next to area where food was being served out of the kitchen (which was very loud), staff walked out of the kitchen with buckets of water, buckets off food supply and its just never nice to see that when your food is being prepared. Things did picked up when we ordered our food. Things generally ran smoothly, but overall, I would not suggest this place for a quiet friendly meal. Its very hustle and bustle and maybe better to order take out or a quick stop for tourists. Id even recommend sitting at the bar stools for a better experience.

I went with two more friends on a Sunday afternoon and wanted to just have some drinks with cakes. After they told us to seat down, this waitress came about asking for our orderings. We took awhile and I felt sorry about that, but when she realized we didnt order any food but only drinks and cakes she told us we are not supposed to sit down and we should have ordered the food to go. This is when the cafe wasnt packed at all!!! I didnt like her tone but we gave in and ordered some chicken wings and tacos. When she came back with the food and some empty plates, one of the plates was so dirty! There was stains and left over sauces on it. Obviously, it was an unwashed plate. Hence I politely asked to change that dirty dish. She threw the dish loudly into a collection tray behind us and went on ranting to herself. I paid a full 18% tips after the meal but I will never come back to this place. The service is way too horrible to show my international friend what a family, friendly American cafe is like
