After years of disappointing audio equipment and poor FM radio reception, I took a chance on HIONFI. I learned that stock can vary from week to week and there are units that are for sale that have not yet been vetted by the tech and once purchased, go to the bench with the guarantee that if it cannot be made perfect, money is refunded. I picked one of those units, a Sansui 5000a. I wanted simplicity and an old fashioned analog radio dial with excellent reception to hear my WCNY Classic FM station. It took a few weeks but my receiver amplifier was finally ready and "was getting a shine put on" . On my way over I was hoping to also find some speakers there. I had Bose 501s many years ago so I thought a smaller shelf version would be better for me now. I didnt expect to walk in and see an absolutely perfect pair of Bose Séries 2 right up front. Both those and my Sansui 5000a came home this afternoon. After hanging up my FM antenna, I am hearing WCNY 93.1 with absolutely no frequency interference at all! Not in 5 years here in Syracuse have I been able to hear that station, on the low end of the dial, so perfectly. And the Bose speakers, with all the dials in mid range, are letting me feel the vibration of the bass, cello and Viola. I am looking good forward to gorgeous mornings filled with music and great coffee. Thank you to all you guys at HIONFI for loving great vintage equipment and having such pride in your work.

Have been to HionFi plenty of times, but one experience has ruined it. I will never go again, which is a shame because I would rather buy records from a local business than Barnes and Nobles, but I feel cheated. I recently purchased an Ozzy record for a project I was doing, but shortly after realized it would not work for what I was doing. Two whole days later and with my receipt I brought the record in and tried to exchange it for a record of equal value. They said no rather rudely and claimed "I could have done anything to the record" if they were afraid I scratched they could have tested it. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A RECEIPT OF YOU CANNOT RETURN OR EXCHANGE SOMETHING????!

If you love mid-to high-end audio equipment, you will love Hi On Fi. Walking into the store I am swept away to an era where shop owners cared about electronics and caring for customers. The staff at Hi On Fi are experts in their field and clearly love what they are doing. Thanks to the store, Syracuse now has a great source for audio equipment and repair.

I have an affinity for the audio gear I grew up desiring in the late 70s and early 80s, but could not afford. Hionfi has a wide variety of items that I wanted and now can afford. They also have a great repair service for the electronics which I have used for some 30 year old speakers that needed some voice coils.

Hionfi restored my Carver equipment in timely manner. They were very patient with my questions. Based on their recommendations I picked up a pair of AR-10pi speakers. I am thrilled with them; they far exceeded my expectations once I set them up at home. Overall, a great experience!

Drove all the way out here solely to check this place out on a Sunday and they were closed. Got there at 5pm, Google and their website both say theyre open until 6pm.
